I went to work on an experiment last night, where I wanted to see if the grey rings on my Ranger Raptors OEM bead lock capable wheels was going to fit on the Bronco Rims I have on my Ranger Raptor now.

I have a lot of tools, and nothing seemed to really fit those bead lock ring mounting bolts.
T40 star was as close as I could get and still since the fit was a little sloppy, I managed to strip two out on the first ring I went to remove from.

Looking for advise on the correct tool for taking these ring mounting bolts off.

I'm pretty sure they're the same as on the Bronco, so you'll want to get a Torx Plus set and it should be the T40+ if I remember correctly.

::I edited my post to reflect what I found out. I have a TP set and went out to check on my Bronco's wheels. The correct size for the torx bolts in the rings is TP40::

Thanks guys.
‘I am still not sure exactly what the difference in T=Torx vs TP=Torx plus.
Both seem to be 6 lug or 6 point.

I ordered several different Torx plus on Amazon this evening.
I think that Torx plus makes since the lobes seem thicker which would explain why the T40 was sloppy but worked to get several out.

Is there propped removal process.
I know installing a rim and tire you tighten in a cris cross pattern.
‘I am curious should I have loosed the ring bolts in a criss cross pattern, the last 2 bolts were side by side and both were crazy tight and both are now stripped out. All the others came right out no problem.

I quote:
" Torx and Torx Plus are similar fasteners, but Torx Plus optimizes the design of the original Torx. While both have a six-point connection with the drive head, the Torx fastener allows for a 15° drive angle, while the Torx Plus has a 0° drive angle. This increases the available torque and minimizes wear on the fastener and drive head. You can use a standard Torx driver on a Torx Plus screw, but not the other way around. "
