As this thread has shown, it really is hit or miss with a lot of variability. I rarely use mine, as excited as I was to finally own a vehicle with wireless charging for a phone. Mine is so lackluster I have considered buying an aftermarket charger and installing it.

My experience with a Samsung S22 Ultra sporting an average thin plastic case: I use Android Auto and it can be power hungry. I stream music or podcasts and use Waze on the Ranger's display. Sometimes the wireless charge will keep up, but often it will not. Just depends likely on whether or not the phone is in the perfect spot on the charger. Heat is definitely an issue, the first week I had the truck, my phone was so hot on the wireless charger that the screen would black out. Granted part of the problem was no AC and it was warm in the cab.

Ultimately on long trips, I just plug the phone in with a USB cable. Wireless is OK for short trips if you like to keep your phone charge level, but that's about it.

And this is not a Ford specific problem. Many people report similar problems with other car manufacturers. But with so many different phone models, cases, and use case scenarios, you don't know until you try.
