I am absolutely scratching my head over this one. On a pretrip engine check over, I was flabbergasted to discover my coolant reservoir cap was missing. I am at 9,500 miles with two oil changes (I performed). I am 99% sure I never touched the cap. I don't even have Ford coolant (VW only)and there was no reason to open it. If it's been missing this whole time its my bad of not noticing it when doing the oil changes. The coolant level was barely above the bottom hose, well below minimum. That got me to wonder why Ford doesn't have a coolant level sensor. All of my water cooled VWs have them and they are super sensitive going off just 1/10th" below minimum. Not sure when one would get a dash alarm about low coolant unless it is when the engine reaches a critical hot temp. All good now with a new cap and topped off with Prestone Platinum.
