Try as i might i have been unable to figure out how the different engines will effect cargo capacity between the two. (i cant even find listed weights for each).

the 2.3 sport (nonfx4) lariat i test drove listed at 1572; any speculation on what upping to 2.7 will do to that?

Interesting. I’d have assumed no change myself. It might move the load a little faster, but there’d be no change to frame / structure. Yet in the F150, engine does make a difference, albeit a small one of +/- 100lbs or so given the same box configuration.

Looks like it goes from 1805 pounds to 1711 pounds with the bigger engine. Adding the 4x4 will lower that number further. Basically, you start at 1805 pounds and subtract the weight of any add-on features.

I cant find that chart ( also i think you're misreading it, the bottom columns are offset with the first two being the 2.3 (2wd then 4wd) and the 3rd being the 2.7. So it looks like it drop from 1711 for the 2.3 to 1542 for the 2.7.

I think if i'm interpreting correctly, adding on the lariat sport "costs" 139 pounds and upping to the 2.7 "costs" 169 pounds for a total of 1403 cap.
