Great question. I have one of the first racks to come off the assembly line back in early summer. I saw no real impact on my fuel economy. There is a slight amount of wind noise but that you will get with any roof top rack.

It’s 10x the other racks on the market. The TrailRax team engineered this thing to do the job(s) it was intended to do. Installation was super straight forward and can be done in your driveway or garage.

They also have been testing this design for over a year before coming to market. It will be a wise investment!

Hope this helps

Think it would work for a canoe with a single full height cross bar over the bed?

Yes, a canoe could totally be mounted on the rack with a full height cross bar. With a dynamic weight rating of 350lbs, you could strap 2 canoes on!

Looks nice. I'm not in the market yet, but will you be offering any options with cut outs or other mounting options for lighting? Sorry if I missed it earlier in the thread.

Yes, we currently offer the 40" light bar cutout wind deflector variant with the Ranger rack. Also, all of our roof racks provide 360 degree mounting, so you can mount lights on the sides, rear, cross bars as well. Check out our Dome Light Brackets - compatible with most small lights.

Honestly, it’s not that bad. You’ll have to remove the a pillar covers, unbolt the four seatbelt bolts and pull down the weatherstripping around each door frame. That’ll allow you access to the headliner. And then you’ll be able to gain access to the four bolts holding the roof trim piece and then you can put the brackets in from there. But there’s a pretty good video on the Trailrax website that goes through the entire process. Also, if you follow them on YouTube, you’ll be able to see that walk-through on their YouTube page.

Here is the install instructions video for you! As Brian said, you do have to access the four bolts underneath the headliner temporarily. The rack is 100% bolt-on though, no drilling required.

Can you make a shorter one that will fit with a GFC?

2L7A6744.webp
The tallest point of the roof rack sticks up 1/8th of an inch above the shark fin antenna in the rear middle. In the photo it looks like there is some clearance above the fin, so the current Ranger rack could fit - worth the measure! As long as you have clearance under that GFC, it should work. Keep in mind bed flex between the bed and cab of the vehicle.
