Ford using Google for new infotainment

Really wish they would have included this with new ranger. Sync 4 is ok but sucks at the same time.

I’d rather they work out the kinks on someone else. Sync launches have been horrible.

It is in the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus and it seems to be very user friendly and customizable. The 48" display is the bomb.

I'm glad they teamed up with some quality external sources to produce the product. IMO I think that will be better than the route GM took developing theirs in house and sorta ditching carplay and android auto. It's clear that GM's intent is capturing user data and selling new features and services to the vehicle owner for monthly fees. A new source of revenue for GM. I would imagine Ford is thinking the same thing. Just my thoughts/impressions.

This is definitely the first move toward a subscription income stream. That’s one more reason to want the legacy system… The next truck I buy after this one (sometime in he mid 2030s), I’ll be forced to buy subscriptions for every option and be forced into an electric motor. Maybe the electric motor will be functional for my use by then, the subscriptions thing will drive me nuts.

This is probably for the best. Places like Google or Apple are really good at creating user interfaces and designing a computer ecosystem. This is really not Ford or GMs main competency and they are better off doing what they do well which is design and build automobiles.

Damn 25 explorer is using the google infotainment as well. Seems our ranger will feel outdated now with the radio.
