Really upsetting to hear about such a catastrophic failure this early on…

Would love to see some stats around this, maybe we can start a poll, to see what % of members here have had the issue, at what mileage, and what build date…

If this engine needs to come out in the first year, I’d be livid…especially since I just came from a Toyota I owned for 6 years without a single issue…fingers crossed this is an isolated problem.
It’s a little invasive procedure to fix, no where close to catastrophic. My wife’s 2018 had the cam phasers replaced under warranty, no issues after another 50K miles so far. As for Toyota, their reliability is going down fast, they having to replace 100,000+ entire engines in their new trucks and Lexus cars, dealers refuse to take them for trade ins based on latest news articles
What can we say other than it all sucks nowadays with new vehicles, choose your brand, they all have some issue.

Unfortunately the issue with forums is you only hear about the issues. So it sounds like everyone’s having the problem when you read about it. Was the same way with my mustang. I would have thought everyone’s engines were blowing up. Hopefully it’s a minor number of Rangers. No way to know really without a statistic.
Couldn’t agree more, and that’s coming from a guy who owns a 350/Voodoo…and I love that thing like a child…and I love this truck already too. So I’m not trying to blow this out of proportion but rather see if we can gather some data over time like guys did on the 350s to isolate the issues and determine your risk profile and start to learn what to look out for / early signs to get ahead of it.

So to be clear, it is a complete engine pull to repair. Not an easy fix. Also, see my other posts. I had horrible cam phaser failure at 900 miles... it happened for about three weeks. It has since almost all but disappeared. Not sure why? not saying tis fixed? not assuming it was beak in? But it is gone for now, and crossing fingers it won't return. If it does, I will deal with it then. Horrible regardless, no one wants to spend 60k and have the motor bad.

Yes and I don’t care how good the tech is, when an engine comes out, no chance it all goes back as well as factory. If the car was 10 years old, fine. First year, I wouldn’t accept that.

All I can say is it might be vehicle specific, engine specific, technician or facility preference, etc., but the engine was NOT pulled from the vehicle when the cam phasers were replaced at the ford dealership warranty repair on our 2018 Ford Expedition. It's had 50K + miles since the replacement without a single issue. It's not all gloom & doom folks.

It indeed is vehicle specific. On a Ranger it is a cab pull or motor pull, only two options Ford gives us.

That sounds exactly like what mine had.

The fix done on mine was to remove the engine. Take the front off the engine to access the cam phaser and replace the dodgy one.

I opted for a refund. My car was only 6 weeks old.

Actually had no idea this was an issue on the 24' RR. I traded my 17' Raptor for this that started and didn't want to deal with it. I only have 130miles on mine as I picked it up last week. Scheduled to go in later this week for paint issues during pick up and scheduled a Procal tune.

Unfortunately, same issue here. My RR 2024 has been in the dealer since 1st of October 2024, still haven't received it. This is the 2nd time i had to take my truck to the dealer and i am very disappointed with Ford, last time had high noises in the interior and it took them more than one month to solve... and now this!!!
