It really is. 1st world problem, but seriously, if you have memory seats, why not memory mirrors too? Otherwise you're still making adjustments. I had that feature in 2006 and it was ancient back then, almost 20 years ago. I mean I guess that's one less thing I have to adjust but I'm still going to complain about it when my wants/needs are (likely) overridden by a shareholders pockets.Such utter bs.
This shareholder argument is so old. This has nothing to do with cutting costs or shareholder. We are literally talking about software at this point, not hardware since the ability to move the mirrors and things is already thereIt really is. 1st world problem, but seriously, if you have memory seats, why not memory mirrors too? I went into forscan and activated the reverse/tilt feature. Unfortunately, it still didnt work. After some research, it needs a different motor to be installed behind the mirror for the memory function to work. This shareholder argument is so old. It shouldnt, unless they are housing the memory module in the mirror which would seem weird. Most likely couple ways to solve it.I went into forscan and activated the reverse/tilt feature. If you want to help me figure out a way to solve the problem, Im all ears. Unless theres one thing I didnt activate in Forscan. I got it to show up in the infotainment screen and switch to on. Nothing happened after that. Figured maybe I had to pic a specific mirror before going into reverse, but nothing happened when I tried that either. It shouldnt, unless they are housing the memory module in the mirror which would seem weird. (Less likely)?? So is it Ford incompetence? Afterthought? Lack of communication? Marketing thinks consumers don't want it?This shareholder argument is so old. Honestly, the ROW can complain that the US got the sliding rear glass window that they didnt get. I use the rear window all the time. I never have anyone in the back seats and the cab seems to heat up/cool down just fine with the front vents. What is maddening is that the engineering already went into some features ROW has, like the rear AC vents. At least make it an option if you want to pinch a few pennies.
Speaking of annoyances, the keyfob all windows up/down...but not the rear slider.Honestly, the ROW can complain that the US got the sliding rear glass window that they didnt get. Yeah I understand. More so my response is that a lot of folks (on this forum) say that garbage to attack labor unions and DEI and stuff and have no actual understanding or care about why something the way it is. Its a common dog whistle from the current republican party.(Less likely)?? So is it Ford incompetence? Afterthought? Lack of communication? Marketing thinks consumers don't want it?
I admit, none of us knows the real reason it was skipped but let's get real, a lot of the cuts consumers get in todays products are directly related to shareholder profits. That's a fact - including Ford vehicles. Capitalism reigns true and is the direct driver for everything in this world. It's old because people are sick of hearing it but that doesn't mean it's not true. What is true is your statement about software vs hardware. I know, I deal with it every day. Programming is free, PCB components are not. It should be a simple software issue, but we don't know the components that link the systems. For my company, I directly tell marketing it's going to be a $(x) dollar amount to add a feature they want. If their margins aren't met, features disappear. That includes a simple triac vs relay on a PCB, or a single color LED vs multicolor LED - if the price isn't approved, neither is the feature.
Sorry if I seem bitter but as an engineer that deals with this shit every day, I can assure you, shareholder profits are concern number one for a company's growth and the reason why consumers are getting less for their dollar. NA Rangers got a lot cut compared to ROW Rangers and if Ford cared just a little more for the consumer vs the Shareholder, then yes, we wouldn't be complaining as much. If I was a shareholder/investor, then obviously I care about making money and needing that growth. But I'm not so my poor ass is going to complain and cry about it on this forum.
