I recently noticed that there was something missing on my dash. Something that every other car that Ive driven for the past 20 years has had.

A snowflake, or indicator, when the outside temp is below freezing. Its silly and simple, but I actually like it to know when I should possibly be mindful of ice on the road or something. Not that I dont have a hundred other indicators on my phone saying what the weather is.

I could see this being a "McDonalds Coffee" scenario. Someone gets into an accident and sues claiming they didnt know they should be cautious about ice because they didnt get a warning, only a temp indicator.

it needs its own sound... as a BMW owner, i had no idea my heart could sink so far into my stomach in the .002 seconds it takes to adjust your focus from road to dash, to read, its only a low temp warning.

This is typical feature in Euro vehicles, and much less common for NA and Asian market vehicles.

The 4r and Taco had them, and my Explorer has an ICE warning on the overhead console. I just assumed the Ranger had them too haha. Good to know!

I never understood the reason for the ice warning. I know it’s cold out - I didn’t teleport from my warm bed into the driver’s seat. But I get it if you are used to something and it is no longer there.

The outside temperature is displayed right on the instrument panel.
If it reads below 32F. there is a chance of ice.
Yeah, I know that. But I like the blinking snowflake warning. I dont really pay attention to the outside temp.

On my XLT, the temperature in the cluster is yellow if it's below 37 and white the rest of the time. There's no sound or other indicator, which I'm happy about. I had several TDIs and that sound always irked me.

First off, educate yourself on that coffee case, stop believing mainstream, low information news.

Most of those warning come on well before <32.

First off, I was being sarcastically humorous. As if not having a snowflake is actually a litigious situation with something of a reference.

Maybe another part of the world got the snowflake along with the rear seat vents....

Well, using the coffee case was a miss then, because it wasn't a spurious case.
