Is this normal?

I hope you all understand that the order banks weren’t officially open for custom, retail orders.

The handful that sneaked in an order were lucky and I hope they honor those orders to you all.

Allocations of 1-2 units were sporadically sent out to dealers. I’ve noticed the majority of the dealers I’ve reached out to had no clue of their allocations of the 2024 RR.

And, of course, they will say anything to keep your business so they say, “Yes we will put your order in and we will send the forms for you to sign.” Classic bait and switch, knowing for a fact they can’t place that order.

I’ll be waiting as long as it takes to get one without dealing with all this BS.

My two cents, 5/27 I went to the dealer and he without issue put in a retail order and I got an email (see screen shot). The order sheet says at the bottom "This order has not been submitted to the order bank." 6/3 I got a call from dealer saying as others did saying that the order had to be placed to stock and that he had done that according to the specs on the retail order. Also you cannot check your order status without a VIN. Obviously not all of Ford was on the same page. As Tom Petty said, "the waiting is the hardest part...."

The problem with this whole situation is this isn't exactly something unique to this release. This is something in general process is a procedure that repeats under any other similar releases.

This is kind of where we veer out of the category of mistake and into the category of incompetent.

Retail orders customizable as long as you only want Crew Cab short bed ?

Stock orders for RR were customizable. The dealership enters their stock allocation how they want, but if you were able to get their allocation, most were willing to order how you wanted it. I ordered the color I wanted and added 2 options. Also, only 1 RR allocation per dealer, per Ford bulletin.

Yep.

Though I did have some dealers throw a fit about allowing the customer choose the spec because it was "risky" lol. Before I found mine out of town, the local dealer was insistent that I order white because Shelter Green was too much of a risk if I didn't buy it.. I was like.. WHAT?

Interesting, the only paper I got were a receipt for the deposit I put down.

I’ve bought 3 Ford Performance vehicles from my dealership so it helps I have a relationship. I was the first to ask them for their RR allocation. The GM gladly placed the “stock” order (to my specs) and sent me the stock order printout. No signatures no deposit. It’s interesting to me they are taking deposits on a stock order. Maybe that’s a common practice.

Must have snuck my retail order in priority 10 unassigned clean and received email. Retail was definitely open just not for long from what I hear

Did yours stay a retail order? If so, that’s the only one I’ve heard keep a retail order. I’m not reading the forum everyday for hours so would not be odd for me to not read about others.

Kept the retail. 3 months or 8 months. Who knows but was the first to order from my dealer and they seem confident

Jeez us Canadians sure get boned for the Engine Block Heater your price is $90US, ours is $250 Canadian....

I placed my order with local trusted dealer yesterday. Just basic XL 2WD with tow package and locking rear differential. He said, there you go, you are our 1st Ranger Order and good news is you get our 1st allocation to get pulled for production! Lol.

got the Ford official order confirmation email to my phone while sitting there. Sill has to be COVP confirmed and will get another email. Reading the fine print on confirmation email, it has a note about all the things that could delay production like supply chain, option constraints, parts availability, etc.
