My Raptor has a yellow warning line at 3,000 rpm continuing with yellow dashes through the rest of the rpm band and the truck beeps when I go past the yellow 3,000 rpm line.......I'm hoping this is temporary and just a break-in thing so I don't over rev it until it reaches a pre-set distance....like 500 miles.

Did anyone else's RR do this?...if so, when did it go away?...like at 500 miles?.......I looked online everywhere and used the owners manual feature on the truck and it says absolutely nothing about this......and the sales guy didn't know either.....you would think Ford would publish something to say it's just for the break-in period.....keeping it under 3,000 is almost impossible even with a feather foot driving around town.......the truck now has 186 miles.....

Has nothing to do with break-in it’s a feature that you can go into your steering wheel settings and turn that rev limiter indicator on or off. Also, you can set it at 3000 4000 5000 RPMs if you want to.

It’s the “performance shift” feature. You can turn it off. Does this link help?

THANKS!!!...yes, finally found it......took a while but now it's off....that stupid beeping sound and warning at 3K rpm was killing me......just took some more playing with the "R" button and choices......found that you can drive in 2wd in sport mode with the baja exhaust......WOW!!...I know....it says "off road use only".....

You want to limit your rpms anyways when breaking in. Probably why salesperson set that. Also please don't Rev when engine is cold.

People keep treating their cars like trash and wonder why it breaks down.

I'm not talking about the baja exhaust. Baja 2wd is not recommended on road.
If the locker is on that would make sense. I need to see if it's engaged in baja and wether you can turn it off. If you can turn it off and save in R mode then the difference is the gauge colors for the most part.

Yeah, I always follow the break in advice. I did kind of drive my truck hard on the test drive though, oops.

I think it is a good idea for the first 1,000 miles or so not to rev too high. I know Ford used to recommend not holding it at a steady rpm during that period. They preferred changing the rpm often.

I don't treat my 02 Ranger like trash but I do make it work out and don't hesitate to hit redline with it if the circumstances call for it. I don't do it all the time and normally don't do long runs over 4,000 rpm. On a very long trip when towing I like to keep it at 3,500 rpm or lower. It has 300K mile on it now and still runs like new. The most important thing to engine longevity is proper maintenance along with non abusive driving.
