received a safety recall letter from Ford stating my vehicle has a safety recall FMVSS No.226. Any idea what this is about and how urgently I need to get my vehicle in?

I don’t know the recall number off the top of my head, but I would assume based on the title its the side curtain airbag recall that has so many new Rangers on dealers lots hung up in a stop sale situation, last I heard they don’t have field fix ready to send out yet. New production after July 30th I believe has some sort of guard to protect the side curtain airbag from getting torn when deployed.

I actually got a letter from Ford yesterday saying there are now parts available for the recall.

That number is the Federal standard that the problem violates, not the recall number. The side curtain airbag issue is #25V541, which it sounds liek you're referring to. The problem is that theres an exposed screw or sharp edge that an inflating side curtain airbag can rub and get cut on, therefore not inflating properly. The fix is installing a shield over the sharp edge. Those parts just became available (I got my letter about the part being available yesterday. I have seen another thread on here saying that it requires taking down the headliner and others saying its 15 minutes. The letter says plan for 1/2 day. I made my appoinment with the dealer for this Friday (plus an oil change) and they asked for the full day.

Interesting.
Since they are dropping the headliner, I wonder if they would install some dynamat while they have the headliner down.

For a few extra bucks of course.

I really hate how tinny the roof sounds when driving in the rain.

Someone on here already had it done took about 20 minutes and they didn't drop the headliner.

It involves adding shielding to the side airbags (both sides) so I don’t know how they could pull that off without taking the headliner down.
Honestly though, I would rather them take more time to do it if it means it will get done right and without additional noise and rattles afterwards.

Didn't drop the whole headliner just the corners where the little tabs needed to go according to them.

Mine was completed yesterday along with the recall for the brake booster which is a software update and reprogramming the instrument control panel since I had the issue of the "My View" settings reverting back to stock each time I shut off the truck. They had my truck for 6 hours to complete all three and they did not remove the headliner.

Had mine done today, 3 hours to complete. I’ve seen reports where dealer messed up trim or got headliner dirty. Absolutely no issues with repair on my truck.
