Final report.....first drive with the new Borla exhaust.

To say I'm pleased is an understatement. At first start up, there is a distinct difference that says "this truck has a bit of an attitude." Driving 2 miles down my dirt road before the highway gave way to just an unmistakable subtle sound of performance as I tooled along at 25mph. Once on the highway, I stomped on it and didn't let up for a while....just because I wanted to hear if it growled.....and it did. What a pleasant sound it made. Once settling into the speed limit, there was NO mundane drone at all. Just a smooth sound of quality and difference from the rest of traffic. Just what the doctor ordered!!!!

Note that when y'all install your own system and do a leak check, there are 2 small holes at the bottom seam of the muffler Dead center) on both sides that are there for moisture drainage (I suspect). The system has no leaks and fits like a glove. I am a happy camper.

In the end, does it have the same bark as my Shelby, GMC Jimmy, or my Mustang.....no. But then again my Ranger doesn't have headers, superchargers, cam shafts, etc......just what Ford put into a V6 dual turbo. I am happy with both my choice of truck and aftermarket exhaust.

Great job getting it bolted up and thanks for the info and tips. Do you think the rear section would be easier if the rear suspension was unloaded to allow more clearance (supporting by the frame not the axle - i.e. on a lift)? I also wonder if it would be any easier with the Crawler "tips" since the section of pipe is shorter 🤔

Most certainly unloading the rear suspension would give greater clearance, although as I have shown, it's not entirely necessary. If at all possible, I've always tried to maintain a normal vehicle profile when installing and aligning exhaust systems. Crawlers are also helpful and a personal preference indeed. I have been using a large piece of cardboard to slide around on all my life and support my head with a firm pillow I've used forever.

Hey Kyle, The Borla website has both and are accurate, so there is really nothing to add by me repeating it. I found the Borla exhaust breaks in well and still NO highway drone. I find great pleasure with manual shifting since I can now hear the engine rpm's. That was what I was shooting for.....shifting at my pleasure and not just putting it in drive. I find that on a 60 mph highway, setting the transmission to 6 or 7 and hearing the motor brings me joy in every shift. Yea I know I'm burning more gas, but there are plenty of dead dinosaurs down there to supplement my need for performance.

Still liking the Borla S exhaust? I am so close to purchasing one but just want to be sure it doesn't make the 2.7 sound like a farty Honda Civic...nothing against Hondas! Is there any barking or popping during de-acceleration? Thanks in advance!

If you experience any barking or popping, it won't be because of the exhaust system. That would be a sign of improper air/fuel mixture and/or timing issues. With today's technology that automatically adjusts for environmental conditions, you will not have that issue.

The Borla's website and their video/audio clip is spot on with what you will hear. I truly am impressed with the exhaust sound the Borla exhaust puts out. If you find that it isn't all that and a bag of chip.....sell it. You'll never know unless you give it a try.

I was just under my truck yesterday to see if the Borla had shifted any. Happy to report that is is solidly in place with no rattles or banging.

Where you will really like the exhaust note is when driving through canyon walls and dividing barricades......and alongside those electric vehicles.

I plan to have them ship to my installer. The box was heavier than I thought!

Ordered today with the black chrome tips! I see Oceaneagle did the same. At least we know SS Exhaust had a couple of sales today.
