So after filling up about half hrs ago I was driving and noticed the dash switching driving modes automatically. It managed to switch to 4wd then 4wd low before I pulled over and put it in park. Once in park I was able to switch to normal and drove home. Lucky I was going about 15 mph... I couldn't find a thread like this but remember some discussion months ago I thought. Thanks
Hello everyone has anyone taken there ford ranger to a dealership or anyone that could tell you about this issue! And how to fix it!

About once or twice a week, without touching the console or shifter, my 24 Ranger Lariat changes to sand mode and into 4WD high. It first happened in February but didn't repeat for many weeks. Now it's happening far more often. I have to stop, set the drive mode to normal, and only then can I change to 2WD. This Ranger came equipped with the electronic shifter. I'm not sure if there is a connection. I'm taking it to the dealership on Tuesday, 4 Nov.

I just picked up my 24 Lariat from the dealer. They had it for 2 weeks and couldn't replicate the issue. This is the second time it's happened to me. The first, they were able to reload a module with a fault code. But he second time there was no code.

Another thread post a user said they kept a metal yeti cup in the rear cup holder whi lch maybe induced some kind of electromagnetic interference.

I usually have a USB-C charging cable laying near mine, hardly used, but always plugged in. Maybe that could be causing the issue.

Do any of you have similar circumstances?

I submitted a detailed complaint on the NHTSA website also, for more visibility.

Hello ,yesterday evening I was driving in town at a slow speed and noticed on my dashboard saw it was in 4H and my knob 4H light was illuminate ,I didn't even come close to touching the 4x4 knobs or the button that has the slippery, sports mode etc, called 2 ford dealerships here close to where I lived and they were totally puzzled like I was ,I have no answers, but it seemed like it wasn't in 4H from the truck was handling like it wasn't in 4H ,I have a gut feeling that the normal, sports, slippery mode button has something to do with this problem!!
I have a UPDATE took my 2024 ford ranger to dealer and they scanned it, this is what they found right wheel speed sensor was not properly reading right BECAUSE the right axle shaft bearing was bad ,(to much play) which in return caused the tone ring to be out of sync with the sensor, which is all part of axle shaft assembly could just change bearing and tone ring ,luckily I bought extended warranty, it would have cost $1500 without it

I have a UPDATE, took my 2024 ford ranger to the dealership, (reminder) I had ABS light, hillside assist light, pre collision assit light come on several times think 5 times over a year also once the 4H light came on ,anyway I took my ranger to the dealership and they scanned it and found on the right wheel sensor was not reading that wheel right, well the axle bearing had a little wear on it which caused the tone ring to be out of sync with the sensor (tone ring slightly loose or wobbly because of the bearing, the bearing, tone ring is part of the axle assembly, had to replace the whole axle shaft assembly, luckily I had extended warranty 10 years 100k miles to cover about 95% of cost had a small deductible, it would have cost about $1600 if I hadn't had that

I dropped mine off at the dealership 2 days ago, they just called and said the traced the issue to the ATCM ( All Terrain Control Module). They're replacing it.

I took mine in to the dealer but they couldn't replicate it and didn't have any suggestions other than it might be tied to a low battery. Since them it happens about once a month. I've always been able to switch it back to normal mode while still driving, though. I'm surprised this hasn't triggered a recall of some kind though. It's unsafe for sure.
