I brought it in because I noticed a coolant smell. They performed a compression test, which came back normal. Informed them that doesn't mean there isn't a leak and I had to top off the coolant about a 1/4 to 1/2 a cup of coolant. TBC on the coolant and will post any issues found in the coolant thread.

While checking for the coolant leak, they found that the transmission pan gasket was “seeping.” Just wanted to let everyone know. Only have 6k on her and it's a 2024.

I have a 2024 and recently had the exact two same issues. The coolant smell on mine happened to be a faulty reservoir cap. The dealer couldn’t diagnose it because the cap gets removed for the pressure testing. Also had the transmission pan leak that the dealer addressed under warranty.

You said they couldn’t diagnose it, does that mean you just bought a replacement cap out of pocket as a test or did you get them to replace it even though the leak test was clean?

I noticed the coolant level was rising when hot but it wouldn’t come back down when it was cool. I had the dealer fill to the max line when they couldn’t diagnose the issue, and confirmed the level. Got home and it was about 1.5 inches above max. Figured it was hot and it would come back down. Checked the next day and it was still at the level. The level not coming back down is indicative of a faulty reservoir cap. When I took off the reservoir cap I noticed the rubber seal was flattened and level with the surrounding plastic on the cap.

I didn’t notice a coolant smell under normal driving conditions but it would happen at either high elevation, under load, or spirited driving.

I bought the new cap out of pocket and didn’t even attempt to get reimbursed.

It looked exactly like that. That first rubber seal on the new cap was rounded and not flat.

@Toobs When you can smell the coolant, does it appear to come from under the hood or near the tail-pipe?

That the components on the Raptor are completely different from regular Ranger might have something to do with it. The engine, suspension, drivetrain , exhaust , 4 wheel drive system, ...it's all different. The transmission is the same 10R60 ........or is that different too

Might be the way we drive our "Raptors" I drive 40 kilometers a day on gravel road with lots of potholes. With my F350 i am steering around the potholes driving about 20 km/hrs. Since I got the Raptor its only 2 weeks old I'm driving 40 to 50 km/hr and intentionally hitting the potholes. I'm loving how the raptor rides i bought it for this drive and am very happy.
