Just picked this guy up yesterday. During my test drive, admittedly leisurely, I didn’t notice much noise from the turbos. On my 1.5 hours ride home - WOW! They make this loud whooshing noise - very different than my 3.5 ecoboost F150. Loud enough that my wife - who notices nothing in car sounds and was never bothered by the turbo whine of the F150 - was a bit shocked.

Is this normal?

I can't say whether it's normal, but it sounds pretty cool to me. However, I am surprised you were in boost the whole way. Going 85mph+?

Not the whole way…. as with any ecoboost, boost is applied when needed, which is usually a small portion of time driving.

I’ve driven an ecoboost powered vehicle for the last 9 years. I’m pretty familiar with them.

I’ve never heard anything like you’re describing from my 2.7L ‘24. The only time I’ve heard loud air noises was in a different car when one of the intake hoses popped off. I’d check to make sure your engine filter housing and other hoses are secure.

Yeah same with the 3.0 in the Raptor - stock standard you don't really hear much out of the turbos (it's mostly exhaust sound in the Raptor). It wasn't until I put on a vent to atmosphere BOV that I now can hear just how much boost is actually being made when it vents

Is "this guy" new or used? I don't hear any noises from my 2.7 turbos regardless of how I drive, so I'm wondering if it's used and the PO put a blow off valve on? If new I'd be checking my intercooler hoses for tight connections.

Got it new with 3 miles on it.

I’m taking it to the dealer today - I’ll let you know.

My father has a 3.5 V6 Ecoboost in his F150, and I have never ever thought my turbos (2025 2.7L V6) were anything near as loud as his. For peace of mind - bring it into the dealer.

Brand new truck - 200 miles, and they can’t get me an appointment for 8 days. Ridiculous.

Sounds almost like the bearings in the turbo are no good.

Stock, the engine comes with a blow back valve, which doesn't make noise. If you want fast and furious you'll need a blow off valve. If you're hearing noises on a stock engine, something might be wrong. Could be that the hose connecting the bbv to the intake tube might have come loose.

RESOLUTION: The truck has 150 miles on it. DEALERSHIP: got it checked (not at the dealership I bought it from). An air intake hose on throttle body was not attached - service manager says the engine was sucking in unfiltered air. He said I should be calling the dealership I bought it from.

What do you guys think? Im wanting Ford in the dealership to either give me another truck or give me a 100k extended warranty.

I'll be curious as to the resolution. I'm afraid will consider it "fixed" now. Unfiltered air, unless you're in a dust storm, probably won't have damaged the truck.

If it did, you'll know before 5yr/60k.

Probably true, however…. Not pleased, at all. I went through the cam phaser debacle with the F150 (as 10s of thousands of us did), and gave Ford another try. Not off to a good start.

I definitely understand. I'm flying a short distance to pick up my truck in two weeks and this will cause me to look more closely on pick up.

I really hope everything works out. The 10/100k warranty is a reasonable ask. It may also depend, do you plan on owning the truck more than 5/60?
