A few minutes later…

So we have an actual human saying the curb weight of his RR is 5,325 lbs. This is supported by the DMV making him pay a weight penalty for the truck.

Then we have a different actual human going to a scale and discovering that his XL 2WD weighs 4,260 lbs (that’s subtracting 220 lbs for the driver, per his post).

Sooooo 5,325 lbs minus 4,260 lbs is 1,065 lbs.

And that’s why I ā€œclaimedā€ a Ranger Raptor weighs more than 1,000 lbs more than a 4x2 XL.

My own Ranger XL 4x4 lists 4,305 as the ā€œshipped weightā€ on Ford’s own certificate of origin.

I also noted that I haven’t been able to find published curb weights, which is why I asked you for a source. I’m going off the best information I can find at the moment.

Your turn.
I thought we were talking about the RR vs the 2.7t 4x4, not the 2.3 2x4.

Let’s do a little math here.

For the sake of argument, let’s agree that a RR weighs 5,325 lbs.

And let’s assume that Ford is correct that my XL 4x4 weighs 4,305.

That would mean my truck weighs 1,020 lbs less than a Ranger Raptor.

You claimed that a 4x4 2.7 weighs fewer than 100 lbs less than an RR. But let’s keep it simple and say you think a 4x4 2.7 weighs 5,225 lbs.

If you are correct, then the 2.7L engine weighs 920 lbs more than a 2.3L engine.

Is that what you’re saying, because Iā€˜m pretty sure that’s not true.

An any event, you’re running around demanding sources and I have provided them to the best of my ability. I’m not going to engage on this further unless you show your work.

I would figure Ford will go the other route if anything and put out a Tremor, not an ST or Lobo version. The 2.7 competes with the 3.0 nose and nose, due to the weight difference, so the 2.7 already is an option and screams. But I think fewer truck owners want a lowered hot rod than a true truck use and/or off road capable unit.
I would bet money that we'll see a Ranger Tremor before an ST or a Lobo. Personally, a Tremor makes very little sense to me in the US market because of how the Raptor was priced but I would never discourage Ford from producing a Tremor if it makes people happy. If Ford does produce an ST, it still needs to function as a truck with towing and hauling capability within 15% of a Lariat. It can be done, Dodge didn't lose towing capability when it built the Durango SRT models.

i don't think we will get a lobo or st either, unfortunately. a tremor, yeah, because they already have 4x4 and fx4 so its not a whole lot to make the changes for that but to do an st or lobo requires tuning for something totally different.

Yeah, he’s just trolling us. Dude has demanded all sorts of proof. When we provide it, he disappears.

He’s got nuffin.

Besides, who cares if the RR is a little chubby? It’s a totally badass truck, and it carries its weight well.

yup, I mean I challenge some posts, but I at least try to justify it, not just hammer a point with no data or logic lol.

Ford Ranger Maverick VS Ranger, it is obviously a marketing issue! imag

Pretty much every source lists the Raptor at over 5300#. All that steel in the suspension, skid plates and a bigger motor kinda adds up. Just take the loss and practice harder for the next game. Or I guess you could claim you miss-typed and left off a zero before hitting ā€œpostā€ šŸ™„šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ˜†

Well, no kidding Ford, one gets all the marketing attention, the other you hide under a rock.

Back to the topic at hand:
Looked at the Mav out of curiosity- nice vehicle, can imagine it be great for a lot of people. Sat in a couple and had the sense of being in a small SUV (I think the Escape has more interior space, certainly in back seat). Bed was tiny, Ranger has 4’ between wheel wells. Didn’t think that it was unibody construction vs body on frame as has been pointed out. Nice vehicle but have to place it as truck adjacent.
