I bought one through Flood Ford. A 10-year, 100,000 mile, $100 deductible premium care plan + lighting. First time buying an extended service plan. I also used my Ford Pass rewards towards the purchase.

I bought one a few year ago through Zeigler for my Focus ST. 6 or 7 year, 125k miles. Used it for a 2k repair at 124,950 miles. No issues at all. I think the "First day rental" is a must, and other options are def worth looking into.

I don’t like them. No matter what they are on . The odds are that you will never come close to spending anywhere near the cost of the plan .
These plans are sold by companies that are in it to make money and they know that the odds are in the favor .

This is very true , but we are now living in the world of electronics and that’s my main concern with newer vehicles. Most of us DYI ers don’t have the knowledge or the instruments to troubleshoot these problems . And because of that , the dealer have a tendency to charge way way to much for these types of repairs. And it’s really not a bad price for the old guys that will only be doing 4 or 5,000 miles a year like me .

This forum has received several extended warranty emails from "Zach" at Granger Ford. I had a question about a two-year full extended warranty regarding does it kick in after the 3-year warranty expires. Emailed Zach. Never responded to me. Went to the Granger dealer website. No employee named Zach I could find. Found several employees in Internet sales but not one of them listed as handling online extended warranties. I want to talk to someone before doing the online credit card into the Ethernet. Maybe someone here has bought their extended warranty from Granger. Seems to be some on the F150 forum. But you can try this. Print off Granger's pricing. Go to your Ford dealer, tell them what you want, and ask them to match Granger. If not, say adios, then call Granger and ask for Zach.

I bought the 7 year / 75,000 mile plan (and I added the lighting plan) with a $100 deductible through Flood Ford for half the price my local dealership was offering it for. I did a lot of research to make sure it was legit before going forward with it. The process was fast and easy, which included electronic document signing. I had a friend at a dealershp run my VIN and it shows as a legitimate Ford Extended Service Plan, exactly as I bought. And it can be used at any Ford dealership.

For the first 36 months you're covered by factory warranty, after that, you're on your own. That is usually when car owners begin looking at Extended Warranties or Plans to cover unexpected oop's. Ford's extended warranties, called Ford Protect Extended Service Plan, can be purchased after the 36 months runs out, which is what I decided to do when I bought our Ranger, no sense on paying double coverage the first 36 months.
From Granger site: If your Ford is within 41 months of its warranty start date (the date the vehicle was delivered to its original owner) and has less than 41,000 miles, you can purchase a plan.

Funny thing, so many people think they need some sort of extended service or warranty plan.
1st. Companies offering extended warranties make a minimum of 50% profit and as much as 70%.
2nd. They all talk about what they will cover. What people need to know is what is excluded.
3rd. Buyers must follow manufacturer’s recommended service intervals. If you do your own service you must keep detailed records and receipts.
4th. Look at #3. When we take our vehicle in for service and the mechanic recommends certain maintenance or repairs be made and you don’t do them, that may cause your future claim to be denied. Because you didn‘t follow recommended repairs or maintenance.
5th. Remember, your new truck comes with a 3 yr, 36,000 mile warranty along with 5yr, 60,000 drive train warranty. So when you buy a 100,000 warranty , your not buying a 100,000 mile warranty. Plus you always have a deductible.

Dealers and warranty companies are very good at selling peace of mind. For every customer who says 1 claim paid for the cost of the warranty there are at least 4 people who never submit a claim. Doesn’t matter which warranty is sold by which company, the reason the try so hard to sell them is because the profit margins are huge.
Good luck with any way you decide to go.

While that makes sense your cost does go up as related to when you purchase the plan as well as how many miles you have on your vehicle. I agree with those who are concerned about all the added electronics on todays vehicle make the extended warranty worth looking at. It is a peace of mind thing.

Be aware that all extended warranties have limitations to what it will cover and what it won't. You will never know if it is covered until you file a claim and hope for the best. I had a 2017 F-150 Limited with the PremiumCare warranty from Ford (same one Granger sells as advertised) and my sun roof failed and they fixed it. I traded in our 2022 Escape Titanium and low and behold the one week before we traded it the sun roof shade, which I consider part of the sunroof, failed and the Ford PremiumCare warranty said it was trim and was not covered. The extended care warranty goes by what ever part number is inputted for repair.

I was playing with the Granger price calculator and it appears you have one year from time of purchase before you see a price increase . The next time level is up to 36 months. The mileage increase is above 10,000 miles before you see a price increase. You can play with the calculator to see what works best for you.

I personally will get one through Granger before I have owned it for over one year and less than 10K miles.

Congrats on the new Ranger. I actually just picked up my XLT yesterday and ran into the exact same situation.
You aren't imagining things—dealer markups on these plans are huge. I did some deep diving and ended up going with Flood Ford (floodfordesp.com) for my extended warranty. Like Granger, they sell the genuine Ford Protect ESP, but at much lower margins than most local dealerships.
Here’s why I went that route:
The Savings: I saved almost $900 compared to what my dealer quoted me, and I was able to get the PremiumCare plan (the highest tier) with a $0 deductible.
Legitimacy: These are official Ford factory warranties. They are tied to your VIN, so you can walk into any Ford/Lincoln dealer in the US or Canada, and it shows up in their system just like the one the dealer tried to sell you.

MOS, do you have any other insurance at all? If so, why?
