255 vs 265 is pretty negligible and a 265 from tire maker A might be narrower than a 255 from tire maker B. At least that's my experience.

I bought a 265 with a 10.2" tread width but saw another 255 with a 10.5" tread width.

But remember, tread width and tire width are indeed different.

That's correct, I guess I was pointing out that fact since it contributes to the appearance of a tire more than anything. I just wonder why they don't market or advertise based on tread width.

This is my 2026 with 265/70/18's. They fit great, no rubbing, but I will be doing a modest 1" Ranger Lift soon, just so I can get the rake to go from about 2" down to 1". For some reason, my truck didn't come through with the large amount of rake I see other stock trucks having.

Absolutely.
One of the main reasons I run a Oe size 285/70R17 Falken AT4W on my RRs over the Oe BFGs of the same size. The Falken is nearly an inch wider tread width.
‘Both should be close 285mm wide at the bulge but the tread width of the Falken is closer to most 295 tires tread widths.

Yep.
I was going to say to the OP I doubt there is any need for a lift to clear a 265/70R18.
