I would consider a product like this if there were additional panels that install to protect the vertical walls of the bed. I need something that will protect the sheet metal when I throw firewood into the bed. I am planning to purchase a Duraliner for my ‘24 XLT but have not yet. Sprayin liners don’t do the job either.

Thanks for sharing that — completely understand your concern.

If you’re regularly loading firewood, especially by tossing it in, the impact on the vertical bed walls is definitely something a standard bed mat won’t fully address. That’s exactly where a full liner setup has an advantage, since it adds that sidewall protection.

Our current design is focused on protecting the bed floor and tailgate — especially against scratches, dents, and wear in those high-contact areas. But feedback like yours is super valuable, and sidewall protection is something we’re actively evaluating as we expand the product line.

Also agree with you on spray-in liners — they’re great for preventing corrosion and general wear, but they don’t really absorb impact the same way thicker, removable liners do.

Appreciate you taking the time to share this — it helps us build better products 👍

Happy to help. I am an industrial designer and work in product development. My company also works very closely with customers to uncover unmet needs to fuel innovation. Great work you’re doing! I’ve owned a pickup since 1997 and have designed and built my own bed accessories. DM me if you want to collab.

Does your tailgate mat stop at the edge of the tailgate cap? In other words, does not overlap or cover up the ruler detail.

Bought the Lasfit bed mat which look to be the same as the Michelin just rebranded. It's sold under a few different names. They were terrible. Two days in the sun and wouldn't flatten. Had four creases where they were folded in the box that I doubt will ever come out. They have two horizontal ridges from side to side that will catch on stuff when you try to slide things in and out. Obviously designed by someone that's never loaded a truck bed. Gave up and pulled the mat after a few days. It's a waste of money. Looks to be the same. Even the box, just a different name.

Bought the Ranger mat from Ford. Much thicker and better material. The Lasfit tailgate cover fit okay. Just had to cut about an inch off the top because it hits my cover and covers the ruler on the edge of the gate.

Like this one-

Our tailgate mat is designed for full coverage, so it does extend over the top edge of the tailgate cap rather than stopping short. The goal is to provide complete protection for the entire inner surface.

If you prefer to keep the built-in ruler visible, you can easily trim that section with a utility knife. The material cuts cleanly and doing so won’t affect the overall performance or durability in everyday use 👍

Appreciate you sharing that experience — that kind of real-world feedback is exactly what helps separate products that look similar from those that actually perform well over time.

While some mats on the market may appear alike at first glance, there can be big differences in material formulation, thickness, and how they’re packaged/shipped. For example, issues like creasing that won’t relax or ridges catching cargo usually come down to design priorities and material recovery.

If you’re ever open to trying a different approach, we’re always working on improving based on exactly this kind of feedback 👍
