Thinking about it for my 2024 2.3L Lariat. Factory warranty is almost out and AFAIK the 5 year warranty is a gamble with a tune. But with the Ford Perf Tune that yields ~45HP and smoother shifting. Can anyone site a single instance this EVER caused an issue?

Or I'll one up and ask for ANY Ford Perf Tune have you had or head of an issue resulting from it?

I have heard of people having an issue during the tune install that caused the dealer to have to keep the vehicle for a day or two and I think someone on here had an issue that the dealer had to replace the ecu (on ford's dime).

But I have had the procal on my 2024 2.3 almost the whole time I have had this truck (since new) and no issues with it

Thinking about doing it myself as my warranty is getting toward the end anyway. I have not found a single instance of this mild tune causing any issue. My best guess is it might shave a few k off the life of the powertrain.

Anyone install the FPP themselves? Any hard questions it asks or just plug and pray?

I have not had any issues with the Procal tune on the Wife’s RR. The install was less than an hour and was done about the 5K mileage time and had an oil change while it was there.

I installed mine myself at about 7500 miles now have almost 29000 no issues with tune what so ever. Runs great shifts great make between 21-23mpg average made 27 on highway trip. Only problem I’m having is with my tuner but it’s partly my fault. I went to check for updates. My computer hadn’t been used in a while so I had to reinstall the program then when I connected the tuner it started all over again so my stock tune is gone and it won’t connect completely to my truck. I’ve heard this has happened before just need to get with Ford Performance to get stock tune back. Other than that I love it.

Oh so when you first installed it made a copy of your stock tune. Then reinstalling the program wiped out that copy? No biggie for me then. My concern is what you said about it not completely connecting to the truck later then.

It doesn’t recognize it because the stock tune is gone. I had connected it before the computer issue numerous times with no problems. Yes it puts the stock tune on the tuner then installs the other tune. When you first connect it gets your trucks info then you connect to your computer in the program and it will then download the custom tune. The you reconnect to your truck and install the tune. Really simple and takes about 20-30 minutes. Just make sure battery is fully charged or have tender/charger connected.
