I recently got back from my Moab trip and wanted to share with you guys.

The drive from the Bay Area, California to Moab, UT takes about 15 hours. I took the 80 East to SLC and then drive south Hwy 6/191 to Moab. The 89 from SLC to HWY 6 was horrible. A lot of traffic. We decided to drive on HWY 50 back home and it was smooth with no traffic. Other than that the whole trip was a success and the Ranger Raptor performed really well. Really happy with the truck. I am finally figuring out that it's better to be in normal mode with all the "Rock Crawl" stuff than actually being in Rock Crawl mode. Rock crawl mode tries to rev match while down shifting and up shifting even while really low speeds and makes the truck launch forward when you are trying to have a more controlled speed. Normal mode doesn't do that and your able to shift to 1st gear when you need. Like when you are about to descend on a steep hill and want to transmission to do the work and no the brakes.

We ended up doing:

Hell's Revenge
Top of the World
Poison Spider
Kamikaze
Canyonland Overlook
White Wash Sand Dunes

This is great stuff. Thanks for posting. Did you air down much on Hell’s Revenge?
Yep, I always air down to 12 psi. Might go down to 10 psi on other trails to see if the methods will still hold the bead.
Nice wheeling! Looks like you have rock sliders installed? Do they frame mount?
Got a link or were they custom made?
I got these Rock Sliders from Hot Metal Fab. They are frame mount.

Thanks for the quick answer. Any other mods other than the sliders? Just wondering if my stock Raptor can do the same trails. Cheers

I’m trying to remember if these sliders were the ones that required some medication in order to mount. Isn’t there a brake line or something in the way?
This is from their website.
Easy Installation
Our Ford Raptor Ranger Rock Sliders feature a simple installation process:

  • Passenger Side: Drill two holes and install rivet nuts.
  • Driver Side: Comes with factory pre-drilled holes for a quicker setup.
