Glad you had good results. The reviews on the wranglers are not good (specifically the Wrangler Territory at/s). I’ve them to be okay in snow, but pretty weak off road. I just switched them out for more aggressive AT tires.
Yikes. I do have some rough shifts similar to what you describe. For me it's most pronounced when the engine/transmission have not yet warmed up. I got my XLT in April and am about to hit 9k miles.
What do you mean by "cold starts bogging out?"
Pretty common issue, actually. Happens about 20% of the time for me. I turn my phone to airplane mode, then back to normal and it almost always reconnects normally. Irritating, but I think every new vehicle is going to have tech issues.
For off road and snow performance, dropping to 17 gives you a taller sidewall and the ability to air down more. Probably won’t matter much if it’s not going off road though.
I really don't want a full-size pick-up because it won't really fit in my garage. The thought of keeping a $60k+ vehicle out in the driveway in Colorado just ain't right. But my neighbor has a Ram 1500 and man that thing is comfortable.
My experience is that they are not great off road (rock, gravely loose conditions). There's just not enough bite. I've read mixed reviews of their performance in snow. So far, I've had mine out in snow twice, in pretty mild conditions (dry, chalky snow on dirt roads), and I didn't have any...
Nice truck! Bummer you can't get it for a while. I have a Truxedo hard roll up tonneau and it's pretty good so far.
I don't like the Lariat wheels myself, how they look or the fact that they are 18". I'd switch to bronze wheels on that color.
I didn't even consider a Raptor. I actually had a deposit down for a Tacoma TRD Off Road and while I waited the Rangers started showing up at local dealers and we decided after a test to grab the XLT.
Would I upgrade to a Raptor? I doubt it. I think there are other options in that price range I...
Yeah, seats are a personal preference issue. I don’t know if the Lariat has the same Goodyear Wranglers but I can attest that they are horrible off road. They lose traction too easily on loose ground and on rock. Reviews suggest they’re not great in wet or snow, but I haven’t experienced that yet.
I test drove a Bronco Badlands with the 2.7L last year and, man, I was really tempted by that thing. It's noisy, but pretty fun even on road and I'm sure it would be great off road. But the price and limited towing capacity made me pass on it.
Having done a bunch of tire research (for my Subaru and this Ranger) I can say there are plenty of tires that have a better balance of on-raod and off-road performance than the Wrangler Territory ATS, which is summarily pilloried as a terrible tire everywhere you read. I'd suggest the BF...
