  1. Ranger 2.3L for towing in the Rockies?

After 45yrs of owning cars, trucks, jeeps, motorcycles, and other vehicles, what I’ve learned is it’s better to have the power and not need it than not have the power when you need it. I have almost always regretted going with the less expensive option when faced with the type of needs you...
  2. Ranger 2.3L for towing in the Rockies?

I have the 2.7L Lariat FX4. I had the 3.6L Jeep Wrangler and dreaded mountain climbs at freeway speeds even after re-gearing to 4.88 with 37in tires. I’ve watched both of TFL videos (2.3 & 2.7 Ike pulls) and given that you plan to increase your trailer size, I’d stick with the 2.7. I also came...

  9. Bed extender from 5g work in 6g?

I’ve had both, the G5 mounting bracket holes are higher than the G6. I didnā€˜t like the ā€˜V’ shaped G5 extender, so I bought an aftermarket ’U’ shaped extender on Amazon and made my own bracket. I posted a thread on what I did on this forum.
  10. New member, new Ranger

FWIW... I'm also in my mid-60's, I had the old 2.3L in my 2021 Ranger Lariat 4x4 and moved up to the 2.7L 2024 Ranger Lariat FX4. My impressions: 2.3L pros: Better gas mileage - 22mpg around town vs 18.4 under the same conditions in Alaska Enough power for daily driving and light loads...

… and a properly sized replacement shock absorber, which isn’t included in an $80 spacer lift. I’ll take a properly engineered solution over a cheap fix every day of the week. To each their own. 18. Need help convincing wife

That may be why I’ve been single for 18yrs. I don’t have to satisfy anyone’s feelings on my purchase decisions.
