I commented this elsewhere. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the Ranger the F-150 to the rest of the world? Whereas the F-150 is Ford's crown jewel truck in the US, the Ranger fills that gap in the rest of the world. Thus, the global ranger comes with options not seen in the US like diesel...
I'm curious what changes they'll make to the PHEV Ranger if/when it comes to the US. The Ranger is essentially Ford's global equivalent to the US F-150. A ProPower Ranger makes sense to the rest of the world, but Ford would never allow it to outshine the F-150 here in the US. Therefore, I...
Why is the 2.7L "confirmed"? Didn't Ford already say it was coming?
Also, was hoping for a hybrid leak. Looks like we won't see a hybrid Ranger for a long while (at least here in North America).
My main one is "Why is there no PowerBoost Ranger yet?" I find it a bit odd Ford didn't come swinging out the gate with one. That underseat storage is pretty lame, so eating some up for a battery probably won't be missed.
I'm starting to think Ford knows of some battery constraint that they...
Hey now. I have the 1.5L 3-cyl (AWD variant) in the Escape, and it's been doing great. Almost 76k miles two year, averaging 28 city and 32 hwy from my hand calculations. Outside of the turbo sometimes being either too shy or too enthusiastic, it's actually a great engine. The real test will...
Ok. We are a day away from the official NA reveal. There should be photo leaks of any special variants this evening. The Lightning and ROW Ranger had leaks about 12 hours prior to the official reveal.
If my memory serves me correct, the Maverick's base engine being a hybrid (let alone a hybrid powertrain in existence period) was information that never really circulated around the MTC forums prior to launch. I remember some speculation of a hybrid being an option powertrain in the future, but...
You might want to take the spec sheet (when released) and see which configuration has the highest tow rating, payload rating, and the one in between. Then choose which one you like the most between those three.
I really hope it's revealed then. Rumors are that the Tacoma might have 1 or 2 hybrid powertrains. That would be a big punch in the mid-size truck market and would probably pull customers from the hybrid markets and possibly the compact pickup market, too. Unless Ford has a PowerBoost Ranger...
Ford could definitely shift the entire truck market by making the PowerBoost an actual line of vehicles for not just the trucks but also the Expedition and Bronco, too. It would be a huge endeavor that can't risk any major recalls. With Ford's issues in the past and present, I can see why a...
For the SuperDuty, that's exactly why I thought a PowerBoost would b included: onboard power. I figured a SuperDuty PB would get that plus some extra torque to get it off the line, especially when towing. If you could mate a PB with a diesel, I would think you would get a towing beast...
Hey, that's my comment at the bottom! :like:
Like you all said along with commentors after my comment on the TFL post, the yellow sticker could be for testing equpiment. @Dr_Strangelove also makes some good observations as well.
I'm still hoping for a hybrid of some form for the Ranger. My...
Hyundai Santa Cruz
6th Gen Ford Bronco
Ford Maverick
You also see this with many PHEV CUVs over the past few years; they advertise a vehicle that's more rare than a bigfoot sighting. Heck, if my memory serves me correct, Ford teased/leaked the redesign for the sedans before announcing they...
They way manufacturers are going, you're probably not in that small of a minority if one at all. It's the new trend. I strongly dislike it, but it is what it is. I'm the one who is probably in the minority as I have to set the 8-inch screen in my Escape to the lowest brightness setting due to...
So let me see if I'm understanding this correctly using the Maverick.
This spy shot of the Franken-Escape back in 2020 was the Maverick test mule.
This spy photo of heavily camouflaged mini-trucks are Maverick prototypes.
Was coming here to post that link. I would suspect that there should be some sort of announcement in February. I know the Ranger is the red-headed stepchild of the US Ford truck line-up, but I'd expect some attention to it especially with the global redesign. I'm hoping Ford surprises up with...
I forgot about the division split. You're theory seems to make sense: push for the new thing but have the backup plan in motion if things get squirrely. And if I remember correctly, the HEV and PHEV vehicles are under the ICE division. Maybe Ford really is leading with their plan A but...
