Mine doesn't work all the time. Isn't it supposed to turn off the engine when you stop?

Certain things can make it not stop the engine such as having the A/C on. If similar to the bronco things like certain drives mode such as sport will turn it off all together

I was wondering if that was the case. Been 100 plus degrees here in northern CA. I drive mostly in eco mode but with air on.
Thanks for your response.

At first I was disappointed the Auto Start/Stop made it onto my Ranger build, but I'll say, Ford's version is so much less noticable or annoying as my Wife's 2022 Acura MDX, which is super loud and obvious when it shuts the car on and off.

Took it to the dealership turned out to be the after market rat, squirrel detergent unit I attached to the battery was draining the battery enough causing it to be charging all the time. Cost me $200.00 diagnosis fee to tell that. The charging system is very sensitive to any additional draws to the system.

That sounds like an interesting device, does it dry as well as wash rodents? ;)

I am glad you found the problem, often this issue results from a bad battery, did they in fact load test it? That should be Step 1….

I always turn mine off. I did forget recently and notice it was not working. I think being it’s mid to high 90s in FL has something to do with it. the truck gets so hot maybe the ecu disables it to keep the fluids flowing to keep it cool. I’m not 100 percent sure though maybe someone else can chime In.

Does anyone know if there's a way to check the battery voltage from the Gauge cluster on a '24 XLT?

I've been having off and on auto start-stop issues here too and am trying to diagnose. It'll not work for 5 days straight due to "vehicle charging", but then after a longer highway trip it'll work for a day or two before it stops again. I threw it on a charger this weekend (Saturday) to see if that would help, but today (Monday) it still doesn't kick in, still due to charging...

I do mostly city driving at (relatively) low speeds, is it expected that the battery won't charge enough from this? Or should I be making an appointment with a Ford dealer? I have no aftermarket accessories which should be draining the battery. (Only add was the Ford OEM perimeter plus alarm and its blinky LED.)

I took the truck in to Ford today for them to check the battery, but had to back out after they wanted to keep the truck the whole day for it... (The gal on the phone I made the appointment with said it'd be a 30-60 minute job tops... :sigh: )

The rep tried to tell me it was normal for auto start/stop to not work if you're "not driving it enough", and tried to say that a 25 mile daily commute might not be enough... Suppose I'm going to take the battery to autozone and have them do a load test since Ford is too busy. Or wait til I get called in for this airbag recall and have them do it then.

Little update. I did indeed have them check the battery when I took it in for the airbag recall, and they did indeed determine the battery was faulty (it failed their test, and reported <50% service life remaining from what they told me.) They replaced it under warranty and the auto start/stop has worked fine since.
