When I start up my 2024 Ranger XLT 2.3L and let it idle, at first it idles smoothly and then it sounds like it misfires. Not a backfire but as if a plug doesn't fire. It is relatively new only has about 600 miles on it and I don't know if it's still breaking in that is causing it, and I keep the automatic start stop turned off when driving. Sometimes when stopped at a light it will also do this. So I can't attribute it to the automatic start stop. Any ideas?

I’m glad you posted this because I have a 2024 XL STX and I have noticed mine do this too a few times. I am pushing 20,000 miles and I’ve noticed it at intersections idling and thought it may be an idle adjustment needed, being too low.

To start with attach a scan tester and see if there are any miss fires recorded on a particular cylinder. Just to be sure that's what is happening.

Well I'm glad that I'm not the only one that it is happening to. I will definitely listen more extensively and when it happens again I will take it over to the dealership and have them check it out. I know I'm not imagining things.
