Anyone else swap the stock spare for a matching spare for larger wheels? How was your clearance from the ground? My 275/70R17 spare vs the stock 255/70R17 spare. Almost 2 inches difference. Are you seeing the same? I was hoping it tucked up a little better.

I have the same issue. When I replace my tires I may try a narrower spare with the same radius to get some of that clearance back.

so matching spare 255/65 r18 on oem rim

9 inches under the differential and a little over 11” under the spare

the tire is the limitation not the wheel offset as the tire is resting on the two cross braces.

I suppose you could modify the braces…..

Right, I was expecting the clearance to change by 0.8". A 10" wide (stock 255/70R17) vs 10.8" wide (275/70R17), so I'm a bit surprised it's almost a 2" difference.

One of the downsides of lower/more-negative offset wheels if you do a set of 5; any more ‘poke’ you have in track width, you’re going to have beneath the bed too.
The offset should not matter on the spare as the tire width never changes. It will always be the same regardless of offset with regards to touching the braces underneath.

I have a thought. When you raise the spare back up it hits the front brace first.

And could it be shifted to far forward now?

could you slide the tire back to the rear?

Yep, I tried everything. It's sitting snug on the brace.
