I'll speak for myself, but between new wheels, new tire size and new offset and the cumulative impact on handling, its impossible to isolate the impact of offset alone. Handling and ride are a bit different, but I wouldnt say worse, and I don't know how to attribute that difference to a minor difference in offset alone.

Anyone who's changing offset is changing wheels and often tires, so I'd take any commentary on how the offset changes ride quality with a grain of salt unless it is being isolated.

That is a good point, and I guess I would be the one to isolate that as I plan on keeping everything stock except for the wheels. I was hoping enough people would do the same to be an answer what differences offset does. I really enjoy the ride the way it is, and just want some nicer wheels but don’t want to sacrifice anything major to get it.

Thank you for the advice. You mention the handling is barely noticeable unless you’re in sport mode and know what to feel for, and also mention it’s not as buttery smooth as stock. Are you considering handling and smoothness to be the same thing? Or are you saying handling is practically the same, but the smoothness is actually noticeable?
Handling as steering/responsiveness, and smoothness as road feel. I changed out rims, but kept the same BFG KO3 tires.

Steering is every so slightly heavier in Sport steering mode. Probably notice it most in slow-speed parking scenarios. But as a trade-off, I like being able to see the edge of the sidewall in the side mirror when backing up.

Road feel is every so slightly more responsive (i.e., feel the bumps and jitters more) in Sport suspension mode. My wife noticed this immediately, and asked if I got new tires. It doesn't feel like it glides like stock set up, but not necessarily in a bad way.

I've driven sports cars for a long time, and spent a share of time hanging out with folk who tune/mod from Miata racers, rice burners, etc. Might just be something I'm used to feeling.
