The bracket has some sort of special tool.

I can remove my plate, but I don’t have a tool to remove the bracket without risking damage to the bumper.

The bracket, when installed correctly, has two bolts on the bottom, under the bumper, and two clips on the top that reach in and grab behind the bumper. There is nothing special, and it takes about 5 minutes to remove or install with a simple socket or wrench. I can't imagine how it could be install upside down.

Here are photos with the bracket installed in the other direction (all from the forum):

Notice how the screws are on the top, and the notches to hold the plate are on the bottom? Also, the ACC sensor is fully visible.

Compare mine, and you see mine is in the opposite direction:

I'd flip it myself rather than wasting a couple hours taking it to the dealership. I've had my bracket off a few times. Unfortunately my license plate bracket flip mod didn't work. It looked better than the stock location but blocked the sensor.

What tool do you use to get the bracket off?

The first time I removed it I just removed the 2 bolts and wiggled it just right and the bracket popped right off. The last time I removed it the tabs that fit in the slots on the bumper didn't want to let go so I reached in with a trim removal tool and got the tabs to pop free of the bumper. The tool I used looks like the 2nd one from the right.

Mine has two bolt with wingnuts on the back, I can’t get them to budge. My hands are too big.

It sounds like my Raptor has a different front license plate bracket than your truck.

Hey @CamTalksTech did you figure out how to remove your bracket? Mine on my FX4 Lariat is the correct orientation, but it seems to have rivets that attach is to the plastic molding. Was curious if you were successful. I'd like to move mine, potentially, or figure out how to use a more sturdy bracket to also mount lights.

Ok, I’m fairly certain that this plate bracket is upside down.

my dealer accidentally put it on upside down and offered to flip it, but they’re 1.5hrs away.

tried taking it to my local dealer like 2 minutes away and the refuse to believe me when I say it’s upside down.

They say if I have them flip the plate it is not covered by warranty… and will charge me a 155 diagnostic fee.

i can definitely confirm this is upside down. 🙃

your local dealership doesn’t look really friendly… 155$ for this ? Come on…
