The triple bags mentioned in this thread

https://www.ranger6g.com/forum/thre...-airbag-suspension-works-on-usa-trucks.17196/

Seem to have some issues with binding (restricting upward axle travel) when the truck is driven over bumps. I found this kit recommended by YouTuber @sonicthegt : “Have had those airbags on mine and they are very avarege then I switched to #airbagman option and even every day driving with 5psi in them they are not noticeable at all they mount differently and have more travel allowing the suspension to be as good as they are.”

Here is the website, I have requested a quote for shipping to USA..

https://airbagman.com.au/collection...ra-raptor-22-25/products/rr4750?lfdnr=2046141

There are links there to the product brochure and installation instructions. The latter seems to be very complete and easy to understand. Does anybody have any direct experience with these bags? I really don’t want to be the first to test them and find out they bind up and restrict upward travel like the triple bags do. See this video:

The airbags are Firestone AB0121-1A - this may be special, I could not find it listed anywhere except in Australia for Airbag Man kits. It might be prudent to order a spare airbag, just in case you need it.

Thanks,

No experience with these personally

but judging from the photos, they look to me like they install between frame and top of axle, so it's matter of how small they compress when un-pressurized.

If the factory bump stop makes contact before these airbags are crushed completely flat, you wont notice em at all.

If they can't compress flat enough to allow the bump stop to touch, it will hinder upward travel and possibly damage the bag over time.

Only one way to find out

They sent me a quote of US$850 shipped to Washington State. That is about double what most other airbag kits cost here.

I may just go with replacement rear springs….

If you can avoid airbags, I would recommend it. I think they're most useful if you regularly go from fully unloaded to heavily loaded often, to help manage sag and bottom out when loaded. If I'm not mistaken, unless you've done a lift, none of the airbag options will technically allow full factory articulation (double bag limits extension, triple bag limits bottom out - either extreme can damage the bags, so it limits factory articulation range). I believe they're all mounted between the frame and the axle.

If you just want lift and/or to compensate for additional constant load from accessories, springs are a better option.

Here's my experience -- I bought a second hand RR that already had a canopy and roof rack (120 kg) and a 2" front leveling strut spacer. I go camping and 4x4 a lot so I added ~140 kg more constant load (awning, recovery boards, tools, compressor, battery, skid plates, rock sliders) and typically load up extras on trips. So I added airbags to manage sag during trips, which worked great generally speaking (won't ride as well as factory unloaded, but much better than riding near bottomed out).

I recently decided I didn't want to depend on the airbags to keep the rear height at factory, and springs will correctly manage spring rate better than airbags for every-day driving. Plus I wanted to restore the factory rake, which does effect performance characteristics. So I installed 150-300 kg constant load medium duty rear springs (1" max lift) and a 1" strut spacer. With the constant load and spacer, it sits ~30-35 mm above factory (depending on load, measured center hub to fender arch).

The drive quality and performance characteristics is much better this way (more like factory) and the airbags aren't used at all unless I'm taking a trip fully loaded.

If installing airbags, they work better when installed in conjuction with a 1in strut spacer lift. This gives more roome between chasssis and axle at full compression, negating the issue with the rough bottomging out.
