Have had Amp steps for years on my previous F15o. Now have a Ranger Raptor. I see that now what they call plug and plug involves using the OBD port. So OBD plug would be large in diameter and difficult to run thru firewall. Anyone ran one thru the fire wall.
Old install required getting into the harness under the door cover plate that ended with a cleaner install.

When I installed Amps on my 2014 F150 the only wires that I had to run through the fire wall was the wiring to the controller. The controller was mounted in the engine compartment. I had the plug and play and also opted for the pass thru harness. The pass thru harness had an extra OBD2 port so you could keep the steps plugged in and still have an open OBD2 port for a tuner, scan tool, etc..
