I'm a little late on this but.....I wouldn't call an OTA a "recall". It's a software update that doesn't require any dealer service bay intervention, it's a software update. It's not as if engine component manufacturing defects have been identified that are causing Ranger engines to grenade at less than 5k miles....and replacement engines at less than 500. It's not as if Ford engineers significantly underspec'd engine oil resulting in "good" engines eating themselves. I'm pretty sure that's GM and Toyota with these kinds of recalls.
This guy is an expert on everything.
Ford does use OTA software updates for recalls as I got the trailer module recall OTA on my powerboost

Basically, the PCM will not TELL you the IAT sensor is out of range. That has nothing to do with how it responds to it internally. Aka, if the IAT sensor fails, it could go into limp mode, but you won't get a MIL indicator. Now that would be frustrating! Your vehicle is in limp mode and no check engine light, most people and even techs, until you hook up a code reader and start looking at values, would be very confused because you don't know WHY it's in limp mode. And since it's not throwing a code, you're going to be scratching your head as to where to even start looking! So yah, I get why the recall.

That will also violate emissions requirements since the vehicle is no longer running properly but isn't indicating an issue (i.e., you could go in for emissions testing, pass the test because its only looking for codes / faults etc.).

I've not seen any reports of engine damage, but I do get why there is a recall for it. So unless your IAT sensor actually fails or you suspect it's failing or is out of range, for those who are Pro Cal tuned, I will wait a bit on this one. I'm going to e-mail Ford Performance to see what they say and report back.

I suspect this will be similar to what they did for my mustang, offer an updated cal to fix that one issue after a few months. So far this has been the ONLY PCM related recall that would affect the Pro Cal, everything else has been hardware (air bag, seat bolts) or sub-systems which were fixed OTA (Trailer break module CAN bus error).

My late build 9/25 raptor does not have this recall. I do have the dealer installed FP cal along with other supporting mods. I have dataloggers in all my vehicles so I can keep up with the goins on.
A cheap/good one for this is a scan gauge3. Its show a lot of info that comes in handy for situations like this.
