My auto dimming rear view mirror has a dark spot right in the center at the top. Looks like a defect in the electrochromic to me, but before I take it dealer for warranty work, wanted to check to see if anyone else has this and make sure it is not a sensor or something?

It is hard to get the camera to focus on it, but see pics below. Pretty noticable when it is sunny outside against a bright background.

My bet is thats where the sensor is, behind the glass, and thats why its less mirrored than the rest of the piece.

That’s a sensor mate. They all have it. It detects how much light is hitting the front of the mirror (head lights from car behind) and will dim

there’s also a sensor facing the front which senses ambient light and will adjust accordingly too
