Ford Ranger Tail Lamp Replacement - Does blind spot sensor require recalibration or programing? 1762550857584-qg

I have a 2024 Ranger XLT. My tail lamp housing was damaged recently and I've been looking into replacing it. Ford isn't selling just the lamp housing, but requiring you buy everything in the photo attached, including the blind spot sensor. I'm curious if anyone knows if the blind spot sensor can be removed from my current tail lamp and installed on a new lamp or, if not, does a new blind spot sensor require any recalibration or programing?

I'm guessing it probably won't. Harder step to remove the lamp unit is unsnapping while pulling back to remove it. It's secured by two bolts, take no more than 5 to 10 mins.

As far as calibration for the sensor, don't seem like a component that would require any specific or specialized measures after replacing it. But these days it's all about stealerships making money.

I had to replace my tail light in my lariat last year. Bought a "used" tail light from eBay, swapped my sensor and bulbs over. Took maybe 10 minutes. Saved a few grand. No programming necessary, works like new.

That's what I was hoping to do. Get a new housing and swap all the electrical components over. I'm glad to hear that you didn't have any issues.

I don't think there's calibration involved, but a BLISS unit from another truck wouldn't 'just work'.
IIRC, BLISS modules are programed to VIN.
You shouldn't have any problems if you are just swapping the module from your old assy to the new.

Trying to get both of mine replaced through warranty. The Blind Spot sensor screw tabs are broken so the sensors don't seal against the gasket allowing water penetration. Ford is quoting the 2 tail light assemblies for the Ranger Raptor at over $6300. Proud indeed.

Yowza. Crazy what some parts pull. I recall someone on here some time back trying to source the plastic center console tray but its price was something like $300+.

One of my other vehicles has screens on the back of the front seats from the factory. These are like 480p resolution at best. They MSRP at $8200 EACH. One of the first things I did was take them out to put in my parts bin and we now have a $400 iPad on an Amazon mount for the kiddos.

Curious how you made out? Mine currently has blind spot fault and cross traffic faults every drive 🤦‍♂️

They both got replaced under warranty. They had to re-calibrate the new sensors and now they are a lot less sensitive, meaning vehicles are a lot closer and in my blind spot before I get a warning in the side mirrors. Before the swap, cars could be further back and technically out of my blind spot before the warning lights triggered. I preferred the original calibration, but they work as intended. Still worth not having water intrusion in the tail lights. Lots of car washes later and insides are dry.
