I really like the Bak Revolver X4S that I had on my 2021 Ranger. I removed it when I traded the truck. Shopping for a cover for my 2024 and I see Bak has a different model listed and the price has gone up.
I see many people saying covers from the 5th gen Rangers fit the 6th gen rangers. So I did some prelim fitting. It looks like it will fit but I had to address a couple issues. 1) The plastic bed rail caps have a gap between them and the metal. This will cause and issue when tightening the clamps. Note: because I’m re-using a previous version, I have to use clamps, not the bolt-on rails. 2) The vertical lip of the bed rail is taller and the old clamps are not deep enough to work correctly.
To address this, I made spacers/shims for the gap between the bed rail and the caps. Two pieces of aluminum cut to 1 3/4” x 2” and connected with a few strips of VHB tape.
To address the issue with the clamps, there were a couple options. I see some people notched the bed rail. Others drilled holes in the bed rail. And a couple mentions of bolting the tonneau cover rails directly to the bed rail.
I opted for a new set of clamps that are adjustable. There are three lengths you can choose from. They should work on either the middle or longest setting.
I’m tackling this project Saturday. It looks like it should fit. I’ll add a few pics of the clamp locations and material details if everything goes as planned. For now, here’s a couple pictures of the spacers/shims and the old & new clamps.
