I added an outlet in my new house, they made it so easy with a surface mount 1900 box. I just knocked out a 1/2" added 10' of EMT, another box and done. I just unplug it when I want to drive the car. Also mounted my 1.25a on the wall and a hook for the cord when its not in use.

Ive just added one of these to my raptor

https://no.co/genius2d

Then you can charge your truck anywhere there is a power outlet
That is more of a maintainer than a charger. It will definitely keep the battery healthy long term, but 2 amps is not enough if you want to leave the accessories on for an hour or two, for example to do a software update. My 5 amp unit seems to keep up with that power need. I have a slightly bigger 7 amp CTEK that I carry when traveling.

Do the new Rangers and Raptor come with FLA or AGM?

AGM on my 2025 Ranger Raptor (6/7/2025 blend date).
Had the same question this afternoon and took this photo:

I like to leave my 5 amp CTEK smart charger connected in winter, since I do not drive the truck very often. There is limited walking clearance beside my RR and I got tired of tripping over cords and the location of the outlet was far from ideal, I kept running my arm into the charger cord.

I added a second switched heavy duty outlet up high above the existing one, and ran the charger cord below my existing shelves. I can leave the charger plugged in all the time and simply reach up and swipe the switch to turn it on or off. And now I can walk around there and not have to deal with cords. Plus it looks so much neater…. ;)

John I have 2 questions, is that a red wire on the negative side? Is it just a negative wire colored red? I am also curious what you use the Anderson plug for?

That is a large red positive cable coming off the positive battery post and also a matching black negative cable going directly to chassis ground, for my portable air compressor. I really dislike using alligator clips.

Yes I dislike alligator clips as well. This is the wire I was curious about, it looks like it's your charge wire but I though those were color coded for + and -

You can leave a 5 amp CTEK smart charger connected in winter. It is designed to stay on a battery safely. Make sure the charger and cord are not in a place where you can trip or hit them. You could move the outlet closer or use an extension rated for the charger. Always check the cord and connections for damage.

The CTEK wires attached to the battery should indeed be color coded, but mine was backwards, there were instead + and - symbols imbedded in the terminal eyes. Very confusing, and not at all intuitive. For some reason the charger cable itself on my particular unit is not color coded, though the alligator clip adapter that plugs into the main harness is…? If you accidentally hook them up backwards, the charger will simply not work, it has reverse polarity protection.

I complained to the manufacturer of my air compressor that they use all black heavy gauge double cable instead of color coded, it makes it impossible to figure out the positive at a glance if you want to extend it, for example, and it is a tripping hazard in poor visibility; they agreed with me that it would be smart to use it, but could not explain their reasoning to not do it… when I lengthened that cable I used red plus some red heat shrink “flags”.

FYI black split loom is cheaper and readily available locally by the foot at NAPA, red and other colors not so much. I have multiple black in all sizes that came in 100 foot rolls. Just like Ford Manufacturing I guess. I prefer black but for that big 120 amp Andersen circuit, I intentionally bought and used red to make it very obvious to a tech that they should use extra caution with their tools near that location.

To clarify my previous post, here are the CTEK terminals, the markings are clear enough unless you have a really major brain fart…. The “red” color on the ground wire is actually a remnant to the real red wire, when the two wires are peeled apart, that leaves a trace of color on the other one…. I guess you could color that ground wire with a black Sharpie to avoid confusion.

Almost a must have with these things but... with the hood opened the vehicle never completely powers down and goes to "sleep" if you leave the hood open without a charger on the thing it will ruin the battery. These things have too many electronic gadgets for an offraod vehicle. I just bought a new battery because I went on vacation for a week and came home to 5.72 volts with a dead cell in the battery. Whole truck was closed and locked in the garage with all communications shut off too. Glad I didnt drive it to the airport I would have had to Uber home.

If you get a minute sometime will you take a pic of your RR battery showing exactly where you connected the pos and neg on your battery from your CTEK? These newer batteries have so much going on.
Thanks
Gary
