I just purchased and installed the Ford tailgate extender. I really like the way the mounts bolt into the threaded holes (no drilling into the bed). You do have to drill holes in the top and bottom horizontal bars and then install the supplied rivets. This is a bit of a pain but it’s not too bad. An inexpensive Harbor Freight rivet gun did the trick. Do be aware that the two vertical plastic pieces join the slightly different sized horizontal pieces (take a close look at the inside of the vertical plastic pieces so that you install them properly). Also, be aware that the two plastic vertical pieces hide both the rivets and the joints where the horizontal sections meet. What‘s really clever about the Ford unit is that, with the remote tailgate lock engaged and the unit folded in, it can’t be stolen. I highly recommend this tailgate extender over the “one size fits all“ units for your G6.
