Description
On your vehicle, the engine block heater may develop a coolant leak which could cause a short circuit while the engine block heater system is plugged in.
Safety Risk
A short circuit in the engine block heater increases the risk of an underhood fire.
Remedy
Ford has authorized your dealer to perform one of the two following remedies - - parts are not available. Ford Motor Company is working to provide parts for this repair. When the remedy becomes available, Ford Motor Company will notify you via mail to schedule a service appointment with your dealer for repairs to be completed free of charge. The remedy is anticipated to be available by the second quarter of 2026. - - an alternative remedy is also available for owners who would like to disable the vehicles block heater. For those customers that choose this option, Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to remove the block heater element and power cable and install a threaded plug free of charge.

Had one installed in my truck built in September, doesn’t appear I’m affected.

Pretty hard to believe that a block heater won't be available until the 2nd quarter of 2026. They are needed in far northern U.S. states and Canada.

My wife's parents retired to a cabin in far northern Minnesota and it would get down to -35 to -40F. Without a block heater your car probably won't start.

I was told that I had to have the plug option until parts are accessible. I live where it goes to -40C and below. There is no recourse from Ford but the vehicle is now not fit for purpose herein the winter. Ford Canada are silent and will not answer.
