Charging system fault

I'm 8 days into my new Ranger and am getting charging system faults. They come and go and the center screen has shut off twice and come back on. Dealer cant look at it until Monday so this is fun start.

My 2024 Ranger Sport XLT is in the shop agin for the second time with this fault. Last time all they did was clear a code for low battery voltage and load tested the battery, took it out for a road test and couldn’t find any faults. Said everything was fine, next day the fault came in again 5 times with in 20 minutes. Took it back to the Dealership and tore a strip off the Service Manager and lo and behold their Field Engineer found 3 failures somewhere in the system. Hopefully have it back this week with an explanation as to what happened. This all started with about 2000kms. Shouldn’t be happening with a weeks old vehicle.

I was told by my Ford dealer that the SYNC 4 software is a problem and allegedly Ford is working on a fix but no date was given as to when. Lots of issues with the SYNC4 software. My 2024 has had several issues.

You saying the SYNC 4 software is causing a charging fault or is this a different unrelated issue?

Not really sure but when I tool mine in for several issues, that is what the ford dealer told me. I was told to be patient as they were working on a fix.

Thanks, I sent the information you requested. The truck wouldn't start Saturday night and is at the dealer now.

Update on this. A ground was improperly installed at the factory. Back up and running now.

Glad to hear that. It sounded like a ground issue. Those can be a real PITA to troubleshoot at home. Imagine trying to diagnose a hot start issue and checking the engine ground.

Pro tip: welders gloves do a good job of keeping your skin from searing to the manifold.

Update on this. A ground was improperly installed at the factory. Back up and running now.

Where was the bad ground. My 2025 is having a problem not charging at times.

Found the loose bolt on the ground strap. Engine ground strap is in front of the engine under the skid plate. Sure this will fix my problem also.
