Hello everyone, I am new here. I just bought a 2024 XLT Supercrew with the 2.3L I4 Turbo. I was just researching some stuff and came across this cold air intake. Do you think it would be worth the money? I know it says not released yet but I’m curious on opinions.

Im in the same boat. Probably going to go for the Procal first.

Only reason I was even considering the intake is that it does improve the sound of the vehicle. Yes the stock intake is cold air, but some of these aftermarket intakes should offer more flow and maybe better flowing filters (which may come at the expense of actual filtering). If I did an intake I’d go with the k&n or AFE with dry filter which is slightly more restrictive but lower maintenance and better filtration. The reality is that performance improvement with these is marginal, if anything but they do sound good. The performance improvement should be definitely be more meaningful on the procal if that’s what you’re after.

Oh ok! Is the Procal like a chip tuning thing? I did see where you could get a tuning for like $800-$900 to where it gives more horsepower and torque but then you have to use 91 octane gas or above.

Yea. That’s the one. Ford Performance tune. And yes, the higher grade gas is a downside.

That’s cool! Is it a drastic difference in the 0-60 acceleration? Also, does it affect towing capacity as well with the extra power?

Im hoping to get that shipped to me, but the reason is for more air flow into the motor, the stock tubing and filter has a smaller CFM, i did it on previous trucks and the air flow is much greater with a newer intake filter.

That’s cool! Would there be any noticeable difference in power vs the stock cold air intake?

There will be a difference especially in fuel economy and some throttle response because there the motor is not struggling for air. However, the PCM isnt just gonna change right away its gonna learn that is is getting more airflow at the change of the throttle position.

not all motors are the same so just because it worked on another motor, doesn't mean that will have the same effect here. you need to see what the cfm of the system is, or if it meets or exceeds the requirements of the motor. some motors have an intake system that already lets in more than enough air and that means the intake is not the restriction to power.

i am not sure how much of a difference it makes on 0-60 because i didn't really check it like i did afterwards because i was comparing my wife's 2.0 turbo wrangler to my truck so i did actual 0-60 runs using an app to test 0-60 times. it doesn't lower your towing capacity, having the tune. whether it tows easier or not, i am not sure. i hardly ever tow and ahve not with this truck, yet

For $100 cheaper you'll be able to get one from S&B in the next month or so.
