Cold/Hot air pipes with intercooler upgrade

I am looking to purchase the AFE cold and Hot air pipes with an intercooler, but I can decide what intercooler to purchase. I am looking at the CVF or the Cobb intercooler. Besides the fact that the COBB is double in price, does anyone have any experience with any of these items? For the intercooler if you have had any experience how was the install and was there any major gains from the intercooler and maybe the pipes as well?

There is zero point in swapping out the charge pipes unless you are changing turbo size or seriously increasing the boost level beyond what the FP tune does.

Otherwise you are only paying for engine bay eye candy…

Intercooler upgrade definitely makes a positive impact in charge temps. Cobb and Wagner seem to be the best options available currently.

Larger charge pipes permit; a larger air pulse and CFM from the FMIC but help the turbo charger spin up quicker. Less lag, larger gulp, denser air, whuch promotes a bigger bang in the cylinders.
This is a common upgrade with a larger FMIC.

Yes, change the charge pipes, (both Hot & Cold sides) with the larger FMIC. Stick with either the Cobb or Wagner FMICS. The Cobb is fully tested, better constructed and QC’ed??

Wagner Tuning intercooler for sure, it fits perfectly. I have been looking at charge pipes. AFE is slow to release anything lately. I may go with Fenfab for those

As stated before, aftermarket charge pipes are a complete waste of money aside from engine bay bling…

Charge pipes are separate from the cols air intake. And ,yes I have AFE also

My point is if you’ve upgraded your intercooler and your intake, it’s pointless to upgrade the charge pipes.

No it's not, the plastic ones get brittle, and if you plan on getting a aftermarket tune they will break

The factory pipes are rubber with metal connections. No plastic…

and the FP tune raises the boost max by like 3 psi. Not breaking any plastic…
