Hey team,
I have the option of purchasing either a bramd new 2024 Raptor Diesel 2.0l or a 2024 Wildtrak V6 for the exact same money and I'm stuck on the fence.
I don't do a hell of a lot of towing, but I do have a trailer boat that is 2300kg empty or 2600kg full of fuel. I generally tow it from storage to the launch ramp, which is only 250m. At most it would be 2800kg fully loaded with gear and a full tank.
I will be using it mostly for work, but also as my personal transport. I don't carry heavy loads, for either purpose.
Work sees me doing a decent amount of highway driving and occasionally light / medium off roading.
I absolutely love the look of the Raptor inside and out and the ride quality and additional ground cleance is well suited to my needs when I do need to go offroad. I think it would tow my boat further afield if I wanted to, I would just have to watch the fuel levels and gear in the boat.
The Wildtrak V6 is slightly more economical and the wheels / tyres more suited to the highway driving I do. I love the additional grunt of the V6 and the electric roller. It would tow the boat easily long distance, should I ever feel the need.
I know at the end of the day it's only a choice I can make, but I'd love to hear opinions from others who have either vehicle and use them in a similar way, especially on how the Raptor is on the highway and what the tyre wear is like on it.
Cheers
