Hey team,

I have the option of purchasing either a bramd new 2024 Raptor Diesel 2.0l or a 2024 Wildtrak V6 for the exact same money and I'm stuck on the fence.

I don't do a hell of a lot of towing, but I do have a trailer boat that is 2300kg empty or 2600kg full of fuel. I generally tow it from storage to the launch ramp, which is only 250m. At most it would be 2800kg fully loaded with gear and a full tank.

I will be using it mostly for work, but also as my personal transport. I don't carry heavy loads, for either purpose.

Work sees me doing a decent amount of highway driving and occasionally light / medium off roading.

I absolutely love the look of the Raptor inside and out and the ride quality and additional ground cleance is well suited to my needs when I do need to go offroad. I think it would tow my boat further afield if I wanted to, I would just have to watch the fuel levels and gear in the boat.

The Wildtrak V6 is slightly more economical and the wheels / tyres more suited to the highway driving I do. I love the additional grunt of the V6 and the electric roller. It would tow the boat easily long distance, should I ever feel the need.

I know at the end of the day it's only a choice I can make, but I'd love to hear opinions from others who have either vehicle and use them in a similar way, especially on how the Raptor is on the highway and what the tyre wear is like on it.

Cheers

Hey Salty , I would not buy a diesel raptor personally as it defies the point and also the reason they got slated on the 5g especially in oz with the 2.0L oil burner im amazed they sell them into certain markets .
You would be limiting your towing and settling for the poverty pack engine .. does not make sense to me just so you have the looks of a Raptor .
I would go for the V6 wildtrak if thats where your budget is at as it will serve you well and a great allrounder.

If I would tow over 2 tons I would get the V6 Diesel.

My Ranger with OME BP-51 shocks and ARB front locker rode very good, took impacts well, and off-road would go pretty much anywhere the Raptor would go. And that was right at about 3.5 tons weight!
