Ford Ranger Wildtrak 25'
Just picked up a 2025 Wildtrak — absolutely loving it so far. Unfortunately, the Ranger Raptor isn’t sold in my country due to regulations and won’t be anytime soon, so Wildtrak was the best I could get my hands on.

Originally had my eyes on the Raptor — it would’ve fit my needs perfectly: fast gravel, long road trips with the family, plush suspension that soaks up hits, and that planted feel. Since that’s off the table, I’m trying to match what makes Raptor ride so damn good — without killing what I already love about this truck.

What I love about the stock Wildtrak:
  • First truck I’ve ever owned. Expected boaty, vague steering — got the total opposite.
  • Steering feel is sharp, perfectly weighted, and confidence-inspiring.
  • Zero body roll. Truck feels grounded, direct, and planted at speed.
This is non-negotiable for me. I absolutely do not want to lose that front-end feel. But…

Problem:
With 1 or 2 people up front, it’s genuinely great.

Add rear passengers — even on mild bumps or island roads — and the rear kicks hard. Way too much shock on the rear axle. Passengers hate it. Axle jumps a lot at mid-speed.

My Use Case:
  • No off-road crawling or mud
  • 90% highway + fast gravel / forest roads
  • Rare 200 kg dirt bike tow, 5–6x a year
  • Comfort > articulation, always
And I’m fully aware leaf springs can ride well — ZR2 Colorado proves that, and I’m determined to get there too.

What I want:
  • Rear comfort for passengers
  • Plushness and body control on gravel/rough roads
  • No axle kick or harsh rebound
  • Preserve stock steering feel and handling
  • Real-world improvement — not just bigger shocks for show
Planned Setup:
  • +35 mm wheel spacers per side
    • Wildtrak front track: 1,620 mm
    • Raptor front track: 1,710 mm
    • I’ll land at 1,690 mm — close enough.
  • 0–300 kg constant load leaf pack (Not for payload — purely to improve rear dynamics)
  • Still debating UCA:
Factory LCAs seem to give +2° caster. Might be enough to preserve steering feel post-lift. Not chasing lift height, just ride quality
Concerns:
Been doing my research (shoutout Kai & crew) and I’m unsure about Dobinson MRRs:
  • Require 2” bump stop spacers in long travel setup — which kills up-travel
  • No zone control (no top-out / bottom-out dampening)
  • Very sensitive to tuning — too easy to get wrong
  • May not even ride better than stock unless perfectly tuned
Ironman Foam Cell Pro is available locally — seems well-reviewed. But is it too stiff for a light-load setup like mine?

I’m open to Fox 2.5, BP-51, Outback Armour Zone, etc. if they’re really that much better in real-world comfort for the rear passengers and gravel control.

Tires:
Running stock Goodyear Wrangler Territory HT now.

Planning to move to 285/65R18 General Grabber AT3s.

Noise is a concern — curious how much drone I’ll get at 100+ km/h. Any feedback there?

Final Notes:
This isn’t a “make it look like a Raptor” build. I’m not mall crawling. I want real performance and comfort where it matters: highway, gravel, family trips.

I’ve done weeks of research, but I lack hands-on suspension tuning experience, so I’d love to learn from anyone here who’s gone down a similar path.

Thanks in advance — really looking forward to your input!

I have a Wildtrak too, how are you going with your upgrades?. Did they work?

You should check out the new Bilstein 8112.
Only problem is they haven't come out with them for the Ranger yet. Coming soon.
