I found temp settings for heated seats, but the only thing I found for the steering wheel is below. Maybe there is a "hidden" asbuilt setting, but I could not find one in the drop down menu settings. I suspect the heater in the wheel is a simple relay and not intelligently controlled.

There is a temp setting for the steering wheel somewhere as well. Btw, has anyone adjusted the seat temps? I'd like 3 a bit cooler and 1 a bit warmer, but it's not cold enough here yet to test it.

I combed literally the entire asbuilt platform last night on my truck I could not find it. Can you please point my sleep deprived brain in the correct direction? I cannot find it in the easy mode and I cannot find any reference to it in the binary build data.

I'll have to look. It'll be a bit before I can, but I'll try to get to it today.

The steering wheel heat control says it uses a sensor, but I think the heating element is similar to self-regulating heat trace cable (snow/ice melt cable). As the wheel heats up, the heating cable heating element pathways change automatically so it calls for less current (amps) and less heat. Was trying to find out if there actually is a limit switch/thermocouple that shuts it down if it gets too hot, but so far nothing found.
I just turn it all off until it is colder and I then enable the heated seats/wheel.

Apparently the heated steering wheel module is not in the wheel itself (in a F-150), but here:

The module is located behind the knee panel on the driver side behind the metal plate.

The hswm is located in the area with the red circle is. The module in the picture is the spotlight module but the heated steering wheel module is located right next to it.

So after some experimentation, I decided to put the ac on max and direct the vents exclusively at the steering wheel for ~2minutes.

After what I perceived to be as a reasonable amount of time I turned on the heated steering wheel and put my hands on the wheel. The wheel absolutly got hot but backed off, almost like a PID loop controller overshooting. This is promising but I still have no idea where the parameters are to adjust the heated wheel response or loop settings or if this is even possible. It is entirely possible that this control is not even part of the can bus and the APIM/HVAC/BCM just tells the heated steering wheel to "go" and it has all of the steering wheel or an ancillary module divorced from the can.

So I guess I am stuck. I live in an extremely rural part of Ohio, with an extremely rudimentary dealership that I can really only give basic work so anything like this would be totally out of their wheelhouse.

I haven't had a chance to play with it recently. Bad weather came in and now I'm doing other projects for a bit before I get back to the RR. I'll let you know next time I get into it and find it.

I can confirm this works, maximum temperature is 39°C and works much better at that temp. Thank you for your assistance.

Kind regards
