An FYI to this post: The Ranger Factory tie down bolts are installed from the Factory with RED Loctite!

Red Loctite is as PERMINATE as you can get without welding! Nowhere is this mentioned in anyone's (Ford or Real Truck) directions! The only way to remove a fastener set with Red Loctite is with heat.

That being said: I stripped the heads off all 4 bolts in my first attempt to remove them. Before I attempted my second attempt, I ordered a set of bolts through the Ford Pass App on my phone. When they arrived is when I saw the factory applied Red Loctite.
It took a propane torch 2 bottles of propane along with a good pair of Vice Grips to remove the damn bolts. Basically 4 hours of labor.

It is mention and pictured numerous times that they are installed with BLUE,not red loctite.
It still makes it a total bugger to remove, and heat will melt blue as well.
But they can be removed with the proper #40 Torx plus bit.
I replaced mine with regular bolts as was mentioned in this thread also.

I beg to differ, the bolts I extracted were installed at the factory with Red Loctite and the replacement bolts I received from Ford were pretreated with Red Loctite.

bolts I ordered from my dealer came with Green loctite preinstalled and I successfully removed 6 from my truck with green loctite with a normal t40 bit... but stripped 3 of them reinstalling them.. by hand.. I then ordered the proper t40+ bit and havent stripped a single one. all without external heat. loosen till it starts to "seize" then tighten till tight. then lossen again. rinse and repeat. I suppose this makes it make its own heat, but this is how I got every bolt out, and stripped 3 as a t40bit doesnt fill out a t40+ bolt. like using a Phillips in a Robinson.. will it work? yes I have done it. doesnt it work well? not at all.

Interesting, Green Loctite is just 1 tic lower than Red in hold strength and still needs heat for removal in most instances...

I just use a plastic Husky storage box from Home Depot. On my rubber bed mat it never slides around....but I do have a BAK Revolver tonneau cover that keeps it from blowing out.

i keep one in mine as well. They work great for store runs to keep things from sliding all over, and are cheap.
