2.3 ranger xlt. When you open the drivers door makes noises under the hood. Like something is engaging. Also on cold start some sort of noise from turbo I think?

Does yours do it to? What is it?

Not sure about the XLT, but on the Raptor, the fuel pump primes when the driver's door is opened. And there are also about 6,000 relays that Ford thinks need to be energized every so often, even when the truck is parked. The Raptor isn't as bad, but my wife's Explorer ST sounded like an old telephone switching system whenever you would just walk by it. God forbid you open a door or the hood!

I was hearing a crazy loud ticking noise on my RR with 150 miles on it every time I accelerated.

turns out the guys at my firehouse are jerks and tied a loose zip tie to the drive shaft so it would spin and click while I drove 😂

Is it a squeaking sound? That's what I usually get when the drivers down is opened. It's not pleasant but I figured it was like you said, something being primed/engaged.

It could be the 2 things that happen on the 5G.
HPFP priming, high pitch whine for a couple seconds.
Turbo waste gate cycling, more of a whir and clicking sound.
