I was looking for a bed rack and I saw one that I liked from GO Rhino at Real Truck. I talked to one of their reps and he said that it would fit my ranger raptor. They offered a 10% discount as no one else would on this rack so I order it.

When it arrived at my house and I opened it up I realized this model was designed for the Tacoma with the bed rail system. I love a project and I saw a way to make this rack work on my truck and have it bolted down as I have used the clamp system on my other trucks and they always seems to loosen over time. I called Real Truck and they realized it doesn’t fit the ranger so they offered to credit me back some money. So I moved forward with my design and used the credit money for a weathertech bed floor mat.

Got my angle grinder with metal cutting wheel out and went to work cutting off the long length where it would have attached to the bed rail system in the Tacoma. I had to ream out some holes on the uprights so that it would fit perfectly with from side to side with my Bak Revolver X4S cover. Bolted it down through aluminum bar stock that I purchased on line that was placed in the stake pocket holes with half inch bolts holding everything together. Sorry,

but I didn’t take any pictures during the install.

I also purchased another molle panel as the original kit only came with one. I like the rugged look of this rack and it seems to be very solid. I will be adding gas and water cans plus recovery boards for the rack as my wife and I are preparing for some overlanding trips out west.

Can you get your hand/arm toward the cab behind rack to latch your roll up cover?

That looks… heavy. What’s the weight of the cover and rack?

Nicely done! Not the most ideal scenario to have gotten into, but you definitely made it work, and it looks like everything came together rather seamlessly. You can truly say you have a one-of-a-kind setup!
