I've been absolutely LOVING the Ranger Raptor as it sits!
0 issues, 100% total fun.
The Garrett PowerMax turbos are what I'd consider PERFECT for the daily driver that wants stock spool, great power up top, all while not stressing the turbos keeping them happy when tuned properly.
Once you get to adding ethanol, the power is even more insane!
For those of us who can't leave stuff alone, I decided a few months ago after attending TRR that I was going to do a full build on this truck, whatever that turns out to be. At this point the truck is pretty much maxed out with the current market offerings. Suspension, bolt-ons, etc. [we need a through the bed suspension option, SVC might be working on something..
]
I reached out to a few turbo builders in search for bigger (stock location for now) turbos that may make more power *WHILE KEEPING STOCK SPOOL*. Spool characteristics are most important to me as I use the truck for mainly off-roading! TurboBay Matt said he wanted to try a few new things, so I bit.
With that said, I had a modified stock turbo set spec'd with what I feel would be the even more-perfect set, if all goes well. Stock spool, and 650-675whp ratings on Ethanol, 525-550whp on 91. At altitude turbo speeds need to come down for longevity, and the abuse this truck will see should easily be able to show this pretty quickly. This isn't a dyno queen as you guys know. I use my truck, I abuse my truck.
I have another R&D truck that I will likely move the PowerMax turbos to, but this set will be going on asap. I'll keep you guys updated!
