I am looking at the same one. Wife wants something that is secure, for road-trips. When this is latched and the tailgate is closed, are the individual segments locked in place, or could they be lifted / pryed open easily ?

Got a soft cover installed, which is fine by me, just easy to break in.

I got a small beach compound I tend to live off of for the summer. I have had success with the backflip before and went with this for the new Ranger. I can assure you it’s locked into place and someone would really need to take a crowbar to the truck to get it open.

All covers you can get into. The bakflip you just need a small hook to get to the wire and pull.

I do have the "TruXedo XLP Low Profile Soft Roll Up Cover" installed. Keeps snow, rain and dust out. So the though was that with the Bakflip MX4 you had a lot more security. But you are right, a simple hook would do the job if you know what you are doing. So are you really gaining anything for giving up the convenience of a soft rollup ?

Not really thats all covers are good for keeps things from prying eyes. keeps it from getting wet(to a certain point). I like my cover it has hooks so you have to physically grab them and pull them down to open cover but yeah if someone really wants into it than they going to get into it.

Are you sure this is a Bakflip? Looks like an Undercover Flex to me. My Bakflip MX4 has plastic end caps on the seals in all four corners.

I installed BAKFlip MX4 about 2 weeks ago and I love it. I previously had a LEER HF650M on Tacoma TRDPro. Mine seals very well and CANNOT be 'pryed' open easily. Each segment latches. The best thing about it is the full use of the bed and the fact that it protects the cab rear window. Yes, you can't see out the window but who cares, I have side view and can use the rear camera when traveling to see what's behind me if I want to. Also it claims it can hold up to 400lbs. I have not tested, but that seems pretty good. Mine also says Bakflip and has the corner caps.

This took me about an hour to do on my own. Can be done with 1 person, easier with 2.

Ordered this from Ford directly on their website. I have not installed the tubing to make this completely waterproof but have not had any issues so far!

I’ve had this on for almost 2 months and it’s been great keeping my stuff dry in the bed.
